Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking an Engineering Manager in Penang to lead control systems and electrical teams, guide technical solutions, and drive project delivery. The role focuses on hardware/software automation, architecture design, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities include ensuring quality, conducting risk assessments, improving practices, and mentoring engineers to enhance competencies across global projects. Strong communication and multi-tasking are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Siemens PLC, HMI, Allen Bradley PLC & HMI, CAD/CAE programs, preferably ePLAN 8.
• Optional skills include LabVIEW, Omron PLC, Mitsubishi PLC, Proface HMI, C#, Robot.
• Experience in electrical & control system design skill.
• Hands on wiring experience. Knowledge on electrical and control components.
• Team orientation, autonomy and flexibility.
• Technically oriented, analytical and conception thinking.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective multi-tasking skills to manage multiple issues at any one time.
• Knowledge of electromechanical relationships of an entire automation system.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Preferably has experience work under Automation Company or System Integrator environment.
• Effective multi-tasking skills to manage multiple issues at any one time.

Responsibilities

• Lead team in control system and electrical. Advise and guide them on the technical and application solution.
• Develop technically automation solutions (hardware and software)
• Continually evolve the working practices within the department to improve efficiency and productivity
• Design architecture and software reviews of projects for most projects
• Ensure quality of deliverables for projects
• Participation and technical contribution to customer and sales meetings
• Review risk assessment and train internal for safety application
• Ensure the electrical design compliance at least CE standard
• Troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper control or electrical functionality
• Effectively manage the automation engineering resources to deliver complex multiple projects on time and to budget
• Manage sub-contract resource, KPI, and tasks
• Production of functional and software design specifications for PLC software
• Collaborate with inter-department to ensure consistency of project delivery
• Collaborate with counter part for better collaboration in global project
• Continuous build up of engineer competency
• Develop sub vendors to tide over resource crunch during peaks.
• Contribute to the development of relevant working procedures, templates and standards.
• Secure customer satisfaction
• Work closely with the operations and engineering to provide technical support in ensuring that project objectives are met in areas such as Safety, Quality, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
• Attend regular project meetings with project team when required
