Job summary

Role Overview

The Associate Teaching Fellow will support the delivery of General Studies (Mata Pelajaran Umum – MPU) units and contribute to high-quality teaching, learning and community engagement activities within the department.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Supervision

• Teach and facilitate MPU units at undergraduate and/or diploma level.
• Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops and other learning activities.
• Develop and maintain appropriate teaching and learning materials.
• Assess student work, provide constructive feedback and complete marking within required timelines.
• Support the coordination and administration of MPU units where required.
• Provide academic guidance and consultation to students.
• Contribute to curriculum review, continuous improvement and quality assurance activities.
• Use digital technologies and contemporary teaching approaches to enhance student learning and engagement
• Contribute to the teaching or development of Digital Entrepreneurship and related learning activities where required.

Service & Engagement

• Support and participate in community engagement, service-learning and student-community initiatives.
• Assist in developing collaborative activities with community organisations, NGOs, government agencies, industry and other external stakeholders where appropriate.
• Support MPU activities that promote civic responsibility, sustainability, social impact, cultural awareness and community development.
• Participate in departmental meetings, academic activities, student engagement initiatives and university events.
• Work collaboratively with the Head of Department, unit coordinators and other academic staff.
• Undertake other academic and administrative duties relevant to the position as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

• Minimum, a Master's degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Arts, Law or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.
• Demonstrated ability or potential to teach effectively in a higher education environment.
• Knowledge, teaching experience or professional exposure in Digital Entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship, digital business, innovation or related areas.
• Experience in community engagement, service learning, community-based projects or stakeholder engagement.
• Previous teaching experience in MPU/General Studies or Malaysian higher education.
• Ability to integrate community engagement and real-world learning into teaching activities.
• Familiarity with contemporary teaching and assessment practices.
• Experience with blended, online or technology-enhanced learning.
• Knowledge of relevant Malaysian higher education and MPU requirements would be an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Competency in the use of digital technologies for teaching, learning and academic administration.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of an academic team.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to support and engage with diverse student cohorts and collaborate effectively.
• Willingness to participate in community engagement and student experiential-learning activities.
