TNG Digital Sdn Bhd is seeking an Associate Specialist, Database Administrator in Kuala Lumpur to manage and optimise corporate databases, ensuring high availability, performance and security. The role covers operational tasks such as backups, DR testing and incident response, plus strategic database governance.

You will partner with software developers and system architects to implement best practices, perform capacity planning and automate routine tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in a DBA role is preferred.
• Proven knowledge of database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL) and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize company databases to ensure availability, performance and security.
• Troubleshoot, perform data management, housekeeping and backups.

# Associate Specialist, *Database Administrator*Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaPermanent#### Duties & Responsibilities* JOB RESPONSIBILITIES* The Specialist, DBA is responsible for managing and optimizing company’s databases and to ensure availability, performance and security. This role includes both operational and support responsibilities such as troubleshooting, data management and protection, housekeeping and backup, and key strategy implementation. The role will also require executing disaster recovery plan and on duty support.* KEY RESULTS AREA* Database Management and Maintenance* Maintain and configure database systems (i.e. MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, NoSQL Database)* Manage data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes* Apply security patches, updates and version upgrades as needed* Performance Tuning and Optimisation* Monitor database performance, optimize queries, indexes and storage* Analyse slow queries and improve database performance* Optimise indexing and partitioning* Database Design and Implementation* Implement database best practice and security policy* Collaborate with software developers and system architects to ensure database designs are efficient, scalable and optimised* Security and Compliance* Implement security control and enforce database security policies (i.e. Access control, encryption, audit logging, secure connection)* Conduct periodic backup and restoration test* Ensure compliance with industry standards (i.e. BNM, PCIDSS, SOC 2, PDPA)* Support security audits and vulnerability assessments* Troubleshooting and Incident Management* Investigate and resolve database issues quickly* Perform root cause analysis for database failures* Provide technical support and assistance for database related queries* Capacity Planning and Scaling* Forecast database storage and performance needs* Forecast event-based database usage, needs and cost* Optimise database costs in cloud environments* Automation and Scripting* Automate routine DBA tasks (i.e. monitoring, failover, backup, restoration, maintenance)* Automate approval and account creation* Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing* Work with different team to integrate best database solutions* Participate in SDLC discussions* Support business intelligence and reporting needs* Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, policies and procedures#### Requirements* Qualification* Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field* Professional cloud certification on DBA* Experiences* Proven 1 to 2 years of experience in a DBA role* Skills* In-depth knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL database management systems and the associated tools* Basic understanding of SQL and cloud database concept (backup, replication, disaster recovery, security)* Experience with software development lifecycle management* Knowledge of Linux operating systems is a plus* Able to use automation tool to automate routine tasks* Personality* Passionate, agile, flexible, and positive attitude.* Assertive, driven individual with a strong sense of urgency* Self-starter with continuous improvement mindset* Flexibility to adapt to changing business requirements and priorities* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and effectively* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results* Willing to work on weekends, in the case of emergency
