Job summary

Leighton Asia in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to conduct site investigations, develop designs for foundations and earthworks, and prepare technical reports for complex civil projects.

You will monitor construction activities, review technical submissions, manage geotechnical risks, and mentor junior engineers throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree or Masters in Civil/Geotechnical Eng or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of geotechnical design and construction experience.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles, including temporary and permanent works design.

Responsibilities

Job Duties

• Conduct and supervise geotechnical site investigations, including soil and rock testing, to obtain design parameters for project execution.
• Perform geotechnical analyses and develop designs for foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, and deep excavation works.
• Prepare technical reports, design calculations, engineering drawings, and recommendations to support project requirements.
• Monitor construction activities, review technical submissions, and identify geotechnical risks while ensuring compliance with safety and design standards.
• Provide geotechnical expertise throughout the project lifecycle and mentor junior engineers to support team development.

Job Requirements

• Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, design, and construction support.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, temporary and permanent works design, and safety regulations.
• Proficient in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS 2D/3D, GeoStudio, or equivalent engineering applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior team members.
