Job summary

Surbana Jurong in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to provide project management support for hydropower and dam projects in a multidisciplinary environment. You will plan, schedule, track progress, manage risks, and coordinate with internal teams and international clients.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, 7+ years of design and project management experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of design and project management experience in hydropower/dam projects.
• Experience in multidisciplinary project environments.
• Strong planning and scheduling knowledge.
• Proficiency with project management tools and software.

Responsibilities

• Project Management Support: plan, schedule, and execute activities.
• Coordinate tasks across internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Prepare progress reports, risk registers, and cost tracking.
• Support proposals, tenders, and technical submissions.
• Contribute to business development and client engagement.
• Apply engineering knowledge to design reviews and assessments.
• Ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Management Support
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing project activities.
  • Support the management of hydropower projects from inception to completion.
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and propose mitigation measures.
• Coordination & Communication
  • Coordinate tasks and deliverables across internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Control project inputs and outputs, document requests for information and query registers.
  • Liaise with local and international clients, contractors, and consultants, providing regular updates and reports.
  • Organize and participate in project meetings, preparing agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
• Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare project management documentation, including team organisation charts, progress reports, risk registers, and cost tracking.
  • Undertake internal project monthly reviews and project planning.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, tenders, and technical submissions for new opportunities.
• Business Development Support
  • Contribute to identifying new business opportunities and assist in proposal development whilst complying with internal governance procedures.
  • Support marketing and client engagement activities as required.
• Technical Contribution
  • Apply engineering knowledge to support design reviews and technical assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support quality assurance processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in design and project management, preferably in hydropower or dam projects.
  • Proven experience in multidisciplinary project environments.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of project planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and software.
  • Ability with Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
• Language Skills:
  • Fluent in English.
