Job summary

Grab is seeking an Assistant Manager, Technology Sourcing to navigate AI-token use, cloud models, SaaS, and hardware lifecycles, while partnering with Engineering, Product, and Network teams from our Petaling Jaya office.

You will design commercial frameworks, run medium-complexity workstreams, build cost models, and leverage AI for analysis to prepare strategic negotiation trade-offs for senior leaders, delivering durable results with fewer escalations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct procurement experience in technology.
• Experience running technology RFPs and enterprise software contracts.
• Familiarity with cloud ecosystems (SaaS/IaaS) and hardware lifecycles.
• Strong financial modelling and business case development.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing execution and strategy for medium-complexity workstreams.

You will report to and work with the Regional Category Manager, Technology Procurement and base on-site in our Petaling Jaya office.

Get to Know the Role

Technology is Grab's largest spend landscape, spanning infrastructure, core engineering, corporate applications, hardware, and network connectivity. We need an Assistant Manager, Technology Sourcing with the inquisitive mindset to navigate complex software ecosystems (AI tokens, cloud models, SaaS) and the commercial rigour to manage hardware lifecycles and network partnerships.

Serving as a commercial advisor to our Engineering, Product, Enterprise Technology, Network, and Infrastructure teams, you will deliver decision-ready outputs, design commercial frameworks, and run medium-complexity workstreams. You will build practical cost models, use AI for analysis, resolve early misalignment, and prepare strategic negotiation trade-offs for senior leaders.

We calibrate performance against outcomes and judgment quality rather than activity volume. You will deliver durable results with clean commercial thinking and fewer escalations, reducing downstream dependency on senior oversight.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Sourcing Execution & Sourcing Strategy:

Run medium-complexity sourcing workstreams with a clear plan, sequencing, and business partners mapping. Conduct spend analysis, supplier profiling, and opportunity mapping. Draft applicable business cases and strategic sourcing strategies.

• Go-to-Market & Commercial Architecture:

Design RFQs/RFPs including questions, evaluation logic, timelines, and governance. Build cost models, quote comparisons, and what-if scenarios that make trade-offs explicit and decision-ready.

• Upstream Business Partnership:

Clarify requirements, scope, constraints, and success metrics with business partners. Handle misalignment early through direct, negotiable agreement. Coordinate Subject Matter Experts (Legal, Compliance, VenSec) and ensure inputs within the timeline.

• Negotiation Preparation & Documentation:

Prepare negotiation positions and trade-offs for seniors. Run pre-briefs and role-play objections so leaders don't walk in cold. Document decisions cleanly, outlining risks, trade-offs, and rationale.

• Supplier Performance Governance:

Manage governance frameworks for technology vendors. Construct goals, run formal reviews, and hold suppliers strictly accountable to service levels and costs.

• AI-Driven Sourcing:

Use AI to accelerate drafting, researching, analysis, and scenario exploration. Stress-test negotiation arguments using AI, then validate against facts and policy.

• Operational & Systems Guidance:

Guide buyer roles to ensure comprehensive familiarity with our main systems (such as Oracle), procurement guidelines, procurement policies, and end-to-end PR/PO workflows.

What Essential Skills You Will Need

Experience & Technical Expertise

• Years of Experience:

5+ years of direct commercial procurement experience, with a heavy focus on the Technology line.

• Deal Sheet:

Experience running technology RFPs and negotiating enterprise software contracts, hardware supply agreements, and network/connectivity deals. Evidence of durable outcomes rather than just events run.

• Technical Literacy:

Hands-on familiarity with cloud ecosystem structures (SaaS/IaaS), software asset management, hardware lifecycle frameworks, and network commercial models (WAN, ISP, SD-WAN).

• Analysis Capability:

High proficiency in financial modelling, usage forecasting, and building business cases from scratch to lead dollar-commitment strategies.

Understanding of procurement value beyond price - weighing risk, speed and long-term impact. Understand and explain commercial levers (Terms, Scope, Service Level Agreement) well.
