HCO Strategy in Malaysia is seeking a Finance & Accounts professional at Assistant Manager/Manager level to own the full finance function—from day-to-day bookkeeping to management accounts, regulatory submissions, and audit coordination. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the CEO in a lean startup environment.

You will handle statutory returns under MFRS/MPERS, corporate tax, SST, and liaison with auditors, with experience in loan accounting and e-Invoicing preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of accounting experience and strong knowledge of MFRS, Malaysian tax, and e-Invoicing requirements.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
• Background in lending, fintech, or banking is preferred.
• Detail-oriented, independent, and comfortable in a lean startup environment.

Responsabilités

• Manage full-set accounts: GL entries, journals, accruals, reconciliations, payables and receivables.
• Reconcile disbursements, repayments, and loan balances between LMS and GL; support ECL/impairment provisioning under MFRS 9.
• Prepare monthly management accounts: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, variance analysis.
• Prepare statutory financial statements under MFRS/MPERS and Companies Act 2016.
• Handle regulatory reporting for BPK or other authorities; manage corporate tax (CP204, Form C), SST, and e-Invoicing (MyInvois).
• Coordinate annual statutory audit with external auditors and tax agents.
• Support AML/CFT record keeping related to financial transactions.
• Drive process improvements and automation in the finance function.

The Role

They’re hiring a Finance & Accounts professional at Assistant Manager/Manager level to own the full finance function — from day-to-day bookkeeping through to management accounts, regulatory submissions, and audit coordination. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the CEO, with exposure to lending-specific accounting and regulatory compliance under KPKT.

What You’ll Do

• Full-set accounts: GL entries, journals, accruals, reconciliations, payables and receivables
• Loan accounting: reconcile disbursements, repayments, and outstanding balances between the Loan Management System and GL; support ECL/impairment provisioning under MFRS 9
• Monthly management accounts — P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, variance analysis
• Statutory financial statements under MFRS/MPERS and Companies Act 2016
• Regulatory reporting for KPKT and other relevant authorities
• Corporate tax management (CP204, Form C), SST, withholding tax, and LHDN e-Invoicing (MyInvois)
• Coordinate annual statutory audit; liaise with external auditors and tax agents
• Support AML/CFT record keeping where it involves financial transactions
• Drive process improvements and automation in the finance function

What They’re Looking For

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent; ACCA/CIMA/CPA is an advantage
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of MFRS, full-set accounts, Malaysian tax, and e-Invoicing requirements
• Experience with any accounting software — QuickBooks preferred
• Background in lending, fintech, or banking with exposure to loan products preferred
• Detail-oriented, independent, and comfortable in a lean startup environment
