Job summary

Jora Malaysia invites a Data Platform Engineer to join the analytics team. You will work on Snowflake-based data warehousing, develop ELT/ETL pipelines with Talend Studio and Python, and support BI dashboards for business insights.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, performance, and governance across cloud platforms, enabling analytics consumption at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience with Data Warehousing concepts and architecture.
• Proficiency in developing ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration.
• Strong knowledge of Snowflake-based data warehousing and cloud platforms.
• Exposure to BI/dashboarding tools and data visualization.
• Familiarity with Azure data services and governance practices.

Responsibilities

• Participate in end-to-end analytics solution development (Snowflake Data Warehouse, dashboards).
• Design and maintain Snowflake data models, secure views, stages, and data sharing.
• Develop ELT/ETL jobs using Talend Studio and Python for data pipelines.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance of analytics workloads.
• Collaborate with business users to translate needs into Snowflake-based solutions.

• Assist the Team Lead (Analytics) to ensure Analytics and Digital Transformation solutions are delivered in a timely and reliable manner, leveraging modern cloud-based SaaS data platforms such as Snowflake and enterprise-grade data integration tools.

Data Warehousing & Data Integration:

• Execute tasks to analyse business requirements, conduct research, and implement enterprise data warehouse solutions using Snowflake as the core SaaS data platform.
• Design, test, and develop scalable data warehouse data structures and ELT/ETL pipelines to ingest data from various source systems into Snowflake and downstream semantic / analytics models.
• Develop and maintain data transformation pipelines using Talend / Talend Studio, Python and other related tools, integrated with Snowflake and other cloud platforms.
• Provide support to project team members and external vendors by offering subject matter expertise in Snowflake-based data warehousing and Talend-driven data integration and transformation.
• Maintain and support existing and future Data Warehouse solutions, including Snowflake environments (schemas, roles, virtual warehouses, and cost-efficient usage).
• Assist in the evaluation of new data, analytics, and integration solutions where applicable.
• Assist in understanding the datasets to be consumed by dashboards, including data structure, granularity, business definitions, and suitability for analytical and reporting use.
• Work closely with BI teams to ensure datasets prepared in Snowflake meet dashboard consumption and performance requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

Data Warehouse & Analytics:

• Participate in the full development lifecycle including system design, development, testing, and production implementation of analytics solutions (System Integration, Snowflake Data Warehouse, BI Dashboards).
• Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of Snowflake data models, secure views, stages, and data sharing mechanisms.
• Design and develop ELT/ETL jobs using Talend Studio, ensuring data quality, reliability, and performance.
• Identify, research, and resolve easy to medium technical problems related to Talend jobs, data pipelines, Snowflake performance, and analytics consumption.
• Assist in establishing standard operating procedures, policies, and best practices covering Snowflake, Talend, data engineering, security, and governance.
• Work closely with business users to identify departmental intelligence needs and translate them into Snowflake-based analytical data solutions.

Competencies – Governance, Risk & Integrity:

• Understand the Group and BU/OU governance structure and processes.
• Understand applicable laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies (COBC, GPA, and related procedures).
• Apply basic risk management principles within the area of operations.
• Maintain compliance, guide others where required and raise concerns appropriately.

Professional Experience:

• Experience with Data Warehousing concepts.

• Experience with Qlik dashboarding / ETL is an additional advantage.
• Interest / exposure to the property industry.

Education/Professional Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
• Professional qualification in Information Systems Engineering, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence and/or Data Warehousing is desirable.
• Proficient / experienced in relational database and OLAP concepts.
• Snowflake Certifications (e.g. SnowPro Core / Advanced).
• Microsoft Data Engineering certifications.
• ETL / Data Warehousing related certifications.
• Other relevant Microsoft Azure or cloud-related certifications.
