AMD’s Ethics and Compliance organization seeks a seasoned in-house attorney to join as Assistant General Counsel - Ethics & Compliance. Based in Penang, this role will lead across Asia Pacific and India while collaborating with global teams to scale anti-corruption, competition, COI, and investigations programs.

The candidate will tackle complex compliance issues in tech.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degree from a reputed institution.
  • License to practice law (or in-house equivalent) in relevant jurisdiction(s).
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in global environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, judgment, and analytical skills.
  • Global experience with understanding of regional regulations and cultural differences.
  • Ability to balance legal risks with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee ethics and compliance investigations across Asia Pacific and India.
  • Manage the Ethics & Compliance team in Asia Pacific and India.
  • Coordinate with Internal Audit, HR, and Legal for remediation actions.
  • Interface with external counsel for investigations as needed.
  • Prepare quarterly reports for boards and committees on program effectiveness.
  • Advise on anti-corruption and competition risks across the region.

THE ROLE:

AMD’s Ethics and Compliance organization is seeking a seasoned in-houseattorney to join ourteam asAssistant General Counsel- Ethics & Compliance.This rolewill be based inPenangand report to theDeputy Chief Compliance Officer.This person will serve as the Ethics & Complianceleadthroughout Asia Pacific and India, while alsocollaboratingwith global team members toscale ouranti-corruption, competition, COI, and investigations programs.Thisrole willoperateinfast-paced,challenging, and rewarding environment where legal, analytical,andorganizationalskills will play an impactful role in tacklinginteresting and complexcompliance issues in the technology sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee and manage a docket of compliance reports and investigations.
  • Conduct and oversee objective, thorough, and effective investigations, working across borders andjurisdictions, as necessary.
  • Manage Ethics & Compliance team memberslocatedin Asia Pacific and India.
  • Manage external counsel investigations, as necessary.
  • Oversee the preparation of investigation reports documenting allegations, findings, and recommendations for discipline and corrective actions, at theappropriate detaillevel for each investigation.
  • Synthesize relevant information to effectively andtimelybriefleadersoninvestigationoutcomes, disciplinary measures, root causes, and remediation plans.
  • Work cross-functionally with Internal Audit, Human Resources and Legal Department attorneys to propose and implement post-investigation discipline and remediation plans.
  • Assistwith preparing quarterly reports toBoardof Directors and Audit & Finance Committee on effectiveness of the Corporate Investigations Program.
  • Advise on anti-corruption and competition risks throughout Asia Pacific and India.
  • Review and advise on conflicts of interest.
  • Leverage AI, data, and automation to scale our global anti-corruption, competition, COI, andinvestigationsprograms.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Proven background in conducting complex, sensitive, and high-risk compliance investigations required.
  • Experience successfully aligning with global cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience in the technology and semiconductor industry is a plus.
  • Experience with the channel sales model and channel compliance is a plus.
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degree (or equivalent) from a reputed institution.
  • License to practice law (or in-house equivalent) in relevantjurisdiction(s).
