Job summary

Mandarin Oriental Desaru Coast is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the Director of Engineering in managing all hotel engineering operations. You will ensure optimal maintenance, safety, and functionality of all equipment, facilities and systems, while complying with regulatory standards and guest comfort.

The role requires strong leadership, a focus on safety, and the ability to implement quality control and training programs across the engineering team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years working experience as Duty Engineer
• Hotel experience would be an advantage
• Bachelor's degree in electrical/building maintenance
• Able to analyze malfunction of mechanical equipment used in hotel
• Ability to write routine reports, keep logs and correspondence

Responsibilities

• Ensure hotel readiness for statutory audits/inspections (fire department, MOTAC, FLHSS, etc.)
• Attend statutory fire training and comply with fire, life safety rules
• Develop and manage QC/QA plan and related directives to ensure high quality results
• Supervise training on Food Safety & Hygiene and Occupational Health and Safety
• Identify training needs with Training Manager and deliver plans
• Plan, direct, control, coordinate and participate in all department activities
• Keep costs at a minimum while maintaining hotel service and cleanliness standards

About the job

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Director of Engineering in managing all engineering operations of the hotel, ensuring optimal maintenance, safety, and functionality of all equipment, facilities, and systems. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining guest comfort and operational efficiency.

As Assistant Chief Engineer you will beresponsiblefor the following duties:

• To make sure the hotel is ready for any statutory and mandatory audits/inspections like but not limited to fire department, MOTAC, FLHSS etc
• To attend statutory fire training and to be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning fire, life safety
• To delegate, create, prepare and implement the QC/QA plan and any associated and relevant directives and instructions needed to support the plan. The main duties will be to develop and manager the quality control and quality assurance procedures and ensure high quality results
• To undertake responsibility for supervising, training and instructing colleagues in terms of Food Safety & Hygiene and Occupational Health and Safety
• In conjunction with the Training Manager, identify training need of the department and ensure training plan are created and delivered
• To plan, direct, control co-ordinate and participant in all areas and activities of the department
• To keep the cost at a minimum and will ensure that the hotel standards of service and cleanliness of the entire hotel maintained

As Assistant Chief Engineer, weexpectfrom you:
