Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting for a customer-facing Applications Engineer in Kuala Lumpur to drive application studies, technical consultation, and deployment of inspection solutions for electronics, SMT, and semiconductor sectors.

You will install, configure, and troubleshoot systems, deliver training, and collaborate with engineering and sales teams while traveling across Southeast Asia (up to 70%).

Qualifications

• Degree in Automation, Mechanical, Electronics or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years in a customer-facing technical support or applications engineering role.
• Background in Electronics Manufacturing, SMT, Semiconductor or Capital Equipment industries.
• Experience with AXI, AOI, or SPI platforms is advantageous.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; able to engage customers confidently.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin to support regional stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Southeast Asia and internationally (up to 70%).

Responsibilities

• Conduct application studies, sample evaluations, and system demonstrations for customers.
• Provide technical consultation and recommend optimal inspection solutions.
• Support system installation, setup, programming, and application deployment.
• Troubleshoot technical and application-related issues to ensure customer success.
• Deliver product and application training to customers, distributors, and internal teams.
• Develop technical documentation, training materials, and best-practice guides.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on software testing, product validation, and enhancements.
• Gather customer feedback and market insights to support product development initiatives.
• Partner with sales teams during customer meetings, technical presentations, and solution reviews.
• Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and customer workshops.
• Monitor industry trends, competitive activities, and emerging customer requirements.
• Support customers across Southeast Asia through regular regional travel.
