Job summary

Contego is seeking a 3D Retail Design Lead in Kuala Lumpur to lead Malaysia workstreams across POSM, catalogue and brand activation. You will translate briefs into practical design directions, manage end-to-end development, and collaborate with APAC teams to ensure brand governance and timely outputs.

You will mentor designers, handle high-volume briefs, and ensure designs align with local market needs and global FMCG standards.

Qualifications

• Strong retail design, shopper marketing, POSM or brand activation experience.
• Translate brand identity into practical retail environments, pop-up activations, POSM and branded merchandise solutions.
• Experience managing end-to-end design development from concept through to working files, sample review and implementation guidance.
• Strong creative judgment balancing brand consistency, aesthetics, commercial feasibility and production practicality.
• Comfort working with cross-functional stakeholders including creative directors, project managers, client service teams, suppliers and market teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support day-to-day creative delivery for Malaysia workstream, with design approvals through APAC Creative Director.
• Support catalogue workstream, sample approvals, design updates and related retail/POSM design requirements.
• Translate briefs into practical creative direction and production-ready design guidance across retail activation, POSM and branded merchandise workstreams.
• Deliver and oversee outputs across APAC design capabilities including concept design, visual design, POS adaptation and basic packaging visualization.
• Review briefs with project-management and client-service partners, advising on feasibility, lead times and dependencies before work begins.
• Help manage high-volume and fast-turnaround creative demand, escalating capacity risks early.
• Maintain consistency with client brand governance while ensuring outputs remain relevant for Malaysia market and APAC ways of working.
• Collaborate with APAC creative, project management and client stakeholders for handover of working files and design rationale.
• Identify bottlenecks and opportunities to standardize outputs to improve workflow.
• Mentor other designers within the workstream.
