Job summary

Gentari is seeking an Analyst, Land Acquisition to develop and assess land opportunities for solar, BESS and other renewables in Malaysia. You will engage landowners, consultants and authorities to build a robust pipeline and support timely project progression.

The role requires 5–7 years in land acquisition or related fields, with strong English and Bahasa Malaysia communication skills. Travel across Malaysia is expected as part of stakeholder engagement and site visits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate, Property Management, Economy, Business, Engineering, Law, Surveying, Town Planning, Geography or related disciplines.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in land acquisition, property development, real estate, infrastructure or related sectors.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia is mandatory; Mandarin, Tamil or other local languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and expand a pipeline of land opportunities to support solar, BESS and other renewable energy projects.
  • Conduct land due diligence, including ownership verification, title review, and development suitability assessments.
  • Coordinate site visits, field assessments and stakeholder engagement to advance land acquisition opportunities.

The Analyst, Land Acquisition is responsible for supporting the identification, assessment and acquisition of land opportunities required for the development of solar, BESS and other renewable energy projects. The role works closely with landowners, consultants, authorities and internal stakeholders to conduct land sourcing, due diligence and stakeholder engagement activities, enabling informed investment decisions and the successful progression of projects across Gentari's renewable energy portfolio.

Responsibilities
Land Sourcing & Assessment
  • Build, maintain and continually expand a pipeline of qualified land opportunities to support the development of solar, BESS and other renewable energy projects;
  • Conduct preliminary site screening and land due diligence, including ownership verification, accessibility assessments, proximity to interconnection infrastructure, and overall development suitability evaluations;
  • Perform desktop assessments, market research and data gathering activities to identify prospective land opportunities and support acquisition decision-making;
  • Coordinate and participate in site visits and field assessments to evaluate physical site conditions, infrastructure access, development constraints and project viability.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with landowners, consultants, valuers, surveyors, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders throughout the land acquisition lifecycle;
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities and facilitate information gathering required to advance land acquisition opportunities;
  • Coordinate preliminary due diligence activities, including valuation exercises, land surveys, engineering assessments and permitting-related reviews, ensuring timely completion of required deliverables;
  • Monitor and track due diligence outcomes, project risks and stakeholder feedback to support land acquisition evaluations and recommendations.
Reporting & Transaction Support
  • Support commercial evaluation and negotiation activities by gathering market intelligence, acquisition benchmarks and transaction-related information;
  • Prepare acquisition assessments, reports, presentations and recommendation papers to support management decision-making, approval processes and transaction execution;
  • Maintain accurate records, databases and documentation relating to land opportunities, due diligence findings and acquisition activities;
  • Provide ongoing analytical and administrative support to facilitate efficient execution of land acquisition and project development activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate, Property Management, Economy, Business, Engineering, Law, Surveying, Town Planning, Geography or related disciplines;
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in land acquisition, property development, real estate, infrastructure or related sectors;
  • Experience in land sourcing and stakeholder engagement involving landowners, agents, developers, government agencies and other market participants;
  • Familiarity with land due diligence activities, including ownership verification, title review, site screening and development suitability assessments;
  • Practical experience conducting site visits, field assessments and evaluation of land opportunities;
  • Understanding of land-related regulatory, planning and development approval requirements in Malaysia;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia is mandatory. Proficiency in Mandarin, Tamil or other local languages will be an added advantage;
  • Willing and able to travel extensively across Malaysia for stakeholder engagements and site inspections, with a valid driving license.
