Private Advertiser in Malaysia is seeking an experienced AI Engineer (Python) to design, build and maintain internal e-commerce systems. This hands-on role offers direct access to the founder and real ownership of what you ship, with no legacy codebase to slow you down.
You will integrate SP-API and Advertising API, build data pipelines, deploy AI agents, and own AWS-hosted infrastructure, collaborating with a lean team to turn messy business problems into reliable software solutions.
You will design, build and maintain the internal systems that run our e-commerce business. This is a hands-on build role in a lean team, with direct access to the founder and real ownership of what you ship. There is no legacy codebase to inherit politics from and no committee between you and a decision. You will be pulling data from Amazon's APIs, turning it into something operators can act on, and building AI agents that handle the analysis and routine decisions that currently eat human hours.
Key responsibilities
Build and maintain integrations with the Amazon Selling Partner API (SP-API) and Amazon Advertising API — orders, settlements, inventory, FBA, catalogue, advertising reports
Design and ship features for our internal operations platform: data pipelines, reconciliation logic, forecasting models, dashboards and internal tooling
Build AI agents that automate real workflows — advertising bid decisions, inventory and demand projection, settlement reconciliation, exception handling
Write reliable data pipelines: scheduled jobs, API rate limit handling, retries, and validation that catches bad data before it reaches a decision
Own deployment and reliability of our self-hosted infrastructure on AWS
Work directly with the founder and operations team to turn messy business problems into working software
About you
Strong professional Python development experience — you can architect a system, not just script against one
Real experience integrating third-party REST APIs, including OAuth, pagination, rate limiting and handling APIs that fail in ugly ways
Working fluency with AI coding tools, particularly Claude Code, and good judgement about where they help and where they don't
Practical experience building with LLM APIs — prompt design, structured output, tool use, agent workflows, and handling non-deterministic output responsibly
Comfort with SQL and data modelling
Ubuntu, Git, and the ability to deploy and run what you build
Ability to work independently, scope your own tasks and communicate clearly in English
Direct experience with Amazon SP-API or Amazon Advertising API (nice to have)
E-commerce, marketplace, logistics or fintech background (nice to have)
