Job summary

SEFAR FABRICATION (M) SDN BHD is seeking an AI Data Engineer based in Taman Desa Cemerlang, Johor. You will build and manage data pipelines and infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform to fuel our AI applications, with a focus on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

You will design scalable ETL/ELT processes, govern data quality, and collaborate with data scientists and engineers to extract insights from structured and unstructured sources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Strong experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow) or comparable cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of data modeling, data architecture and data governance principles.
• Experience handling structured and unstructured data sources.
• Familiarity with RAG concepts, embeddings and vector databases is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and transformation.
• Experience with data exploration and analysis to identify relevant data sources and insights.
• Understanding of AI / machine learning workflows and how data supports AI applications.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to process structured and unstructured data from enterprise sources.
• Manage the data lifecycle for Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), including ingestion, cleaning, transformation, chunking and embedding generation.
• Architect and manage data infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow) to support AI development.
• Implement processes and tools to ensure the quality, integrity, availability and governance of data used in AI solutions.
• Analyze structured and unstructured datasets to identify patterns, insights and relevant data sources for AI use cases.
• Extract, structure and prepare data to enable reliable RAG systems and AI-driven analysis.
