Job summary

SEFAR FABRICATION (M) SDN BHD is hiring an AI Data Engineer to build and manage the data backbone powering its AI capabilities. The role is based in Taman Desa Cemerlang Johor and focuses on designing, creating, and maintaining data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform to fuel AI applications with high-quality data.

You will develop and manage RAG data lifecycles, ensure data quality and governance, and collaborate with stakeholders to enable AI-driven insights and decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Strong experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow) or comparable cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of data modeling, data architecture and data governance principles.
• Experience handling structured and unstructured data sources.
• Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings and vector databases is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and transformation.
• Experience with data exploration and analysis to identify relevant data sources and insights.

Responsibilities

• Manage the data lifecycle for Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), including ingestion, cleaning, transformation, chunking and embedding generation.

About the role As an AI Data Engineer at SEFAR FABRICATION (M) SDN BHD, you will build and manage the data backbone that powers Sefar's artificial intelligence capabilities. This full-time position is based in Taman Desa Cemerlang Johor and will involve design, create and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform to ensure our AI applications are fueled by high-quality, timely and well-structured data, with a key focus on enabling advanced techniques like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)

What you'll be doing

Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to process structured and unstructured data from enterprise sources

Manage the data lifecycle for Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), including ingestion, cleaning, transformation, chunking and embedding generation

Architect and manage data infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Data flow) to support AI development

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field

Strong experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration

Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Data flow) or comparable cloud platforms

Knowledge of data modeling, data architecture and data governance principles

Experience handling structured and unstructured data sources

Familiarity with RAG concepts, embeddings and vector databases is a strong advantage

Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and transformation

Experience with data exploration and analysis to identify relevant data sources and insights

Understanding of AI / machine learning workflows and how data supports AI applications

Ability to work collaboratively with technical and business stakeholders

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Good communication skills in English
