Job summary

Honeywell International, Inc. in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, seeks an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer (Static Vessel) to design and develop advanced mechanical systems and drive innovation.

The role is hybrid based at the Malaysia Office with cross-functional collaboration and strong emphasis on vessel engineering. You will prepare calculations, data sheets and specs, supervise fabrication, and coordinate with global project teams to meet budgets, schedules and quality targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/chemical engineering or equivalent.
• 5 to 8 years’ experience in vessel engineering for Oil & Gas / Refining / Petrochemicals industry.
• Experience or knowledge in heat exchanger design is an advantage.
• Familiarity with ASME Codes and TEMA Codes.

Responsibilities

• Work as static vessel engineer for vessel design and engineering.
• Prepare engineering documentation including mechanical calculations, data sheets, and specifications.
• Supervision of vessel fabrication, coordinating with contractors and factory acceptance tests.
• Review and approve vendor data, drawings, and fabrication procedures for consistency with design documents.
• Collaborate with Process, Detailed Designers, Valve Skid Engineer, Instrumentation, Controls and Project Management to ensure delivery per requirements.
• Provide budget/ schedule/ quality updates to project managers.
• Support technical sales to develop optimized process solutions for fixed price proposals.

Advance Mechanical Design Engineer (Static Vessel)

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

As Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer here at Honeywell, you will design and develop advanced mechanical systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive innovation in mechanical design and product performance. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Malaysia Office on a Hybrid work schedule

Key Responsibilities

• Work as static vessel engineer for vessel design and engineering.

• Prepare engineering documentation which includes mechanical calculations, data sheet and specification.

• Supervision of vessel fabrication which includes Working with Contractor, monitoring fabrication progress and conducting the factory acceptance test. Ensuring engineering contractor engineering performance for the project.

• Review and approval of vendor data and fabrication procedures, calculations and drawings. Ensuring consistency of vendor data with other design documents.

• Works closely with other global project team members: Process, Detailed Designers, Valve Skid Engineer, Instrumentation, Controls and Project Management to ensure Equipment is delivered per project requirements.

• Communicates with the assigned project manager(s) on budget, schedule, quality, and progress on assigned work.

• Support technical sales support to produce optimized process solutions in both the budgetary and fixed proposal phases that can be smoothly handed off for project execution.

• Support Customer Specifications Review and contribute to development of Exceptions & Clarifications Communication when required on Fixed Price Proposals.

• Participate in new technology development / infrastructure teams when assigned.

• Keep up to date with customer needs and technologies within assigned area.

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/chemical engineering or equivalent.

• 5 to 8 years’ experience in vessel engineering for Oil & Gas / Refining / Petrochemicals industry, relevant industrial Codes and Standards, engineering work processes and inter-discipline interactions.

• Experience or knowledge in heat exchanger design is an advantage.

• Familiarity with and knowledge of ASME Codes and TEMA Codes.

• Strong oral and written communications skills.

• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

• Ability to travel 20% both domestic and internationally including lengthy business trips to site during construction and commissioning.

• Ability to work independently.

• Willingness to learn new technologies.

• Desire to do the utmost with a positive and professional “never say die” attitude.

• Ability to work on multiple projects at a time, coordinate with vendors and manage project deliverables under tight deadlines.

• Skills to apply engineering design criteria, guidelines, and contract requirements to design work.
