Job summary

Penang Hill Corporation is seeking an experienced finance & accounting professional to manage the full spectrum of financial functions and reporting. You will prepare monthly and annual financial statements, coordinate audits, and liaise with auditors, banks, and tax authorities to ensure compliance.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, 5+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency in GAAP/ MPERS/ MPSAS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• ACCA/ CPA/ MIA/ CIMA qualifications are advantageous.
• Minimum five years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
• Experience in an MNC, audit field, or Big Four is advantageous.
• Knowledge of GAAP, MPERS, MPSAS, taxation laws and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with strong financial analytical skills and teamwork.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software (SQL).
• Good written and verbal English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Perform full spectrum of financial and accounting functions (GL, AP/AR, and business support).
• Prepare timely monthly/annual financial reports (sales/expenses, P&L, balance sheets).
• Prepare audited financial statements, notes, and audit schedules; coordinate audits.
• Analyze financial data and present clear reports and recommendations.
• Prepare forecasts, budgets, and monitor against approved budgets.
• Monitor cash flow and maintain optimum cash levels for operations.
• Liaise with auditors, tax agents, banks, and government authorities for compliance.
• Implement improvements in financial processes, controls, policies, and procedures.
• Undertake ad-hoc financial and accounting assignments as required.

WORK DESCRIPTION:

• Perform the full spectrum of financial and accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/ receivables, and business support activities;
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly/ annual financial reports, including sales/ expense reports, profit & loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements;
• Prepare audited financial statements, notes to accounts, and audit schedules; coordinate and support audit processes;
• Analyse financial data and present clear, insightful reports and recommendations to the Management;
• Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and support implementation and monitoring against approved budgets;
• Monitor cash flow, report cash positions, and ensure optimum cash levels for operational purposes;
• Liaise with internal departments and external parties such as auditors, tax agents, banks and government authorities to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance;
• Recommend and implement continuous improvements in financial processes, internal controls, policies, and procedures; and
• Undertake ad-hoc financial and accounting assignments as required by the Management.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA/ CPA/ MIA/ CIMA will be an added advantage;
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant accounting and finance experience;
• Candidates with prior experience in a Multinational Corporation (MNC), audit field, or Big Four accounting firms will have an added advantage;
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”), the Malaysian Private Entities Reporting Standards (“MPERS”), Malaysian Public Sector Accounting Standards (“MPSAS”), as well as taxation laws, governing standards, and regulatory requirements;
• Able to multitask, fast learner, independent, and capable of working under pressure with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlines; possesses a strong sense of urgency;
• Detail-oriented with strong financial analytical skills and a good team player;
• Demonstrates strong leadership qualities, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and accounting software (SQL);
• Good written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English; and
• Willing to work beyond standard working hours when required.
