Job summary

Convatec in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Accountant II to join our team and support financial reporting, accounting, and tax obligations. You will work with IFRS and local standards, assist with period-end tasks, and help ensure compliance with internal procedures and legislation.

The role requires 5+ years of accounting experience, strong communication, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset. A degree in Finance/Accounting and professional accounting certification are preferred; advanced

• Degree in Finance/Accounting is required.
• IFRS and local standards familiarity is expected.
• Professional accounting certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounting and reporting tasks in line with SOPs and update process documentation.
• Execute period-end tasks, reconcile accounts, and report actuals timely.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and tax reporting obligations.
• Escalate issues to RTR Team Lead and propose remediating actions.
• Assist in process improvements and cross-functional collaboration.
• Support GL associates and respond to stakeholder queries.

In this role, you'll play a key part in accounting, working alongside a dynamic team that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous growth.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Perform accounting and reporting tasks (incl. audit) in line with defined processes, standard operating procedures and work instructions, update process documentations as required
• Execute period end tasks for assigned entity(ies), perform reconciliation and clearing of accounts, report actuals in reporting system on timely manner and meeting quality targets
• Secure compliance according to internal procedures and legislation, support Senior Country Accountant in the preparation of the financial statements and tax reporting obligations
• Escalate issues and concerns to RTR Team Lead and propose remediating actions
• Proactively assist RTR Team Lead to identify any areas of improvement to help maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the processes, lead the implementation of improvement initiatives of medium level of complexity
• Support cross process and cross function cooperation required to achieve overall goals for GBS
• Drive the resolution of queries raised by employees, managers, finance partners & other internal and external stakeholders, build good relationship with stakeholders
• Actively support GL associates

To be successful you will:

• Minimum 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• Experience in working with IFRS and local standards
• Experience in Tax (Direct and Indirect) accounting and compliance is an advantage
• Knowledge of Technology: MS Office, SAP is an advantage
• Strong communication skills
• Mature attitude towards challenges and problem solving - being able to work with limited guidance and able to determine information needed to resolve issues, manage pressure effectively and cope well with setbacks
• Taking ownership of assigned responsibilities, including self-study/research needed to execute the same
• Being able to work to tight deadlines and changing priorities
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Team player
• Audit experience is a plus point
• Mandarin speaker is a plus point

Education/Qualifications:

• Degree in Finance/Accounting
• Additional Prof accounting certification is a plus
