Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Finance/Accountant to manage day-to-day finance and accounting operations, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with MFRS and SST.

The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, a degree in accounting/finance, and strong knowledge of Malaysian tax rules, with responsibilities including month-end closing, audits, and inventory accounting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting/Finance.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA/CPA is an advantage.
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience in trading/logistics/manufacturing preferred.
  • Good knowledge of MFRS/SST and Malaysian tax requirements.
  • Experience with month-end closing, external audits, and inventory accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare timely monthly financial statements, management reports, and schedules.
  • Analyse financial performance and explain variances and business activities.
  • Prepare AR/AP ageing reports and monthly cash flow.
  • Maintain fixed assets register and depreciation entries.

Job description

Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.

Analyse financial performance and provide explanations for significant variances and business activities.

Prepare and monitor Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) ageing reports.

Prepare monthly cash flow reports and monitor the company's cash position.

Maintain the fixed assets register, including asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.

Process and reconcile intercompany transactions and recharge arrangements.

Prepare SST reconciliations and ensure timely submission of SST returns in compliance with Malaysian tax regulations.

Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

Ensure compliance with the Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and company accounting policies.

Finance Operations

Manage the day-to-day finance and accounting operations.

Coordinate and participate in periodic stock takes and inventory reconciliations.

Ensure accurate inventory records and proper accounting treatment of inventory transactions.

Support the Finance Manager in coordinating daily finance activities and ensuring reporting deadlines are met.

Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures.

Prepare monthly closing journals, schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Support the month-end and year-end financial closing process to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for external audits.

Liaise with external auditors, bankers, tax agents, company secretary, and relevant statutory authorities, including LHDN and SSM, on finance-related matters.

Ensure compliance with statutory, taxation, and regulatory requirements.

Business Support & Continuous Improvement

Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decision-making.

Review accounting processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.

Identify opportunities for cost savings, productivity improvements, and operational efficiencies.

Participate in finance system enhancements and implementation projects to support business growth and operational requirements.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and support business initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA (Malaysia), CAANZ, ICAEW, or equivalent is an advantage.

Minimum 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a trading, distribution, logistics, or manufacturing environment.

Good knowledge of MFRS, SST, and Malaysian statutory and tax requirements.

Experience in month-end closing, external audit coordination, and inventory accounting.
