Job summary

HAFIZI & ASSOCIATES in Setia Alam, Selangor, is seeking an Account/Audit Assistant to join our external audit and accounting team. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline from a recognised institution.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with high accuracy in detail-oriented work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software or audit management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate findings clearly.
  • Ability to work methodically through complex documents while maintaining focus.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and willingness to seek guidance when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution of audit fieldwork, including data gathering, documentation review and preliminary audit testing
  • Perform detailed testing of accounting transactions, reconciliations and account balances in accordance with audit programmes
  • Prepare and maintain audit working papers, ensuring they are complete, accurate and properly referenced
  • Verify supporting documentation and chase missing or incomplete information from clients
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of financial statements and identify potential audit issues or discrepancies
  • Assist in the preparation of audit reports and financial statement schedules
  • Perform basic accounting tasks including journal entry review, bank reconciliations and ledger analysis
  • Support compliance verification and regulatory requirement checks
  • Liaise with clients to obtain information, clarifications and supporting documentation as required
  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to professional audit standards and ethical guidelines

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Account/Audit Assistant to join our team at HAFIZI & ASSOCIATES in Setia Alam, Selangor. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to launch or develop your career in external audit and accounting. As an Account/Audit Assistant, you will support our audit team in delivering high-quality audit services to our diverse client portfolio. You will work closely with senior auditors and managers, gaining practical experience in audit procedures, financial statement review and compliance verification. This role is ideal for graduates or those early in their accounting careers who are eager to develop their technical audit skills and build a strong foundation in professional practice.

Key responsibilities

What we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline from a recognised institution
  • Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles, financial statements and audit concepts
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy in detail-oriented work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software or audit management tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate findings clearly
  • Ability to work methodically through complex documents and information whilst maintaining focus
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and willingness to seek guidance when needed
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take direction from senior staff members
  • Professional attitude with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Membership or candidacy in a professional accounting body (such as ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent) is advantageous but not essential
  • Driving licence and own transport are preferred as you may be required to visit client sites
