A leading biotech company in Mexico is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to drive strategic initiatives and lead growth in their drug delivery technology. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in business development and negotiation, possessing a deep understanding of market dynamics. Responsibilities include identifying new collaborations, leading negotiations, and managing strategic projects. A minimum of 12 years in a pharmaceutical/biotech setting is required, along with a strong educational background in relevant fields.

Role Summary

The Vice President, Business Development drives Halozyme’s Business Development efforts for the ENHANZE licensing franchise and our small and large volume auto-injectors and other SC delivery technologies in the Halozyme portfolio. This is a key leadership role in the identification, evaluation, negotiation, and execution of new Halozyme business. They will lead and support various other strategic projects related to Halozyme strategy and growth blending deep scientific literacy with strategic, commercial, and relationship‑building excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute toward the development of the Halozyme SC delivery technology Business Development strategies to grow the drug delivery business
  • Identify potential new collaborations through self and team directed opportunity analyses, business meetings and reading of new publications and data
  • Develop and demonstrate a strong technical knowledge of Halozyme SC delivery technology platforms with ability to translate complex science into clear value propositions for partners and internal executives
  • Develop and implement plans to engage key stakeholders and decision-makers within the companies where potential opportunities exist, winning opportunities with communication of well thought through and compelling value propositions, supported by technical and commercial analyses
  • CDA and MTA agreement negotiation efforts required to progress deal flow
  • Advance deal negotiations including development of draft Collaboration and Licensing Agreements including gaining internal alignment on proposed terms based on opportunity assessment, leading the negotiation, including tracking and resolving issues through discussion with internal partners, and building agreement with external counterparts
  • Develop deep knowledge of market and competitive landscapes and trends, major product developments, trial outcomes, and company activity in the relevant areas of interest
  • Regularly update and strengthen the Halozyme SC delivery technology non-confidential and confidential partnering materials and be proficient in presenting this material to prospective partners and responding to questions
  • Perform financial and market modeling, creating presentation slides to support strategy and business development decisions
  • Lead or support other internal business development partnering and strategic projects that may be outside the scope of Halozyme SC technologies
Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a business, quantitative, or life sciences field; with 18 years of relevant experience. Master’s and/or PhD preferred (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech company or healthcare focused consulting role
  • Previous business development experience, including experience with evaluation activities such as market assessments, financial modeling, business case development and contract generation
  • Corporate accounts and direct selling experience required
  • Proven success in identifying new business opportunities and supporting execution of licensing agreements from start through close
  • Strong business, negotiation, organizational project management, analytical decision-making, and influence leadership skills are required
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical and biotech clinical development and regulatory processes, with knowledge of medical device development and regulatory processes preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence a broad variety of business leaders, both internally and externally and of varying levels from functional subject matter experts to senior leaders of companies is required
  • Deep network of connections across major pharmaceutical and biotech companies

  • Knowledge of software required: Box, Intralinks Data room systems, BioMed Tracker (or equivalent) with proven ability to use AI and data‑driven tools to enhance business development decision‑making
