The Quality Engineer will be responsible for the development and maintenance of production quality standards and documentation. This includes but is not limited to defining quality requirements for new products and preparing/maintaining vital documentation, monitoring production and fabrication quality performance to identify opportunities for improvement, reviewing and maintaining quality files, procedures, work instructions, etc. for relevance and adherence to the Quality System, customer, and regulatory compliance.

How will you do it?

  • Draft, edit, revise and update as necessary, all vital documents associated with the Quality System, i.e. Quality Manual and maintain electronic delivery system.
  • Ensure that processes needed for the Quality System are established, implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.
  • Administration of Corrective Action Request system and Customer Complaints.
  • Plans, develops, conducts and coordinates experimental test programs.
  • Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish and/or evaluate performance standards and limits for new or existing supplier products.
  • Communicate and resolve issues with project team, R&D team, suppliers, and manufacturers.
  • Communicate new product inspection outcomes & risks/mitigations effectively and efficiently during NPI process. Write and/or approve production control plans.
  • Protect customers from defects by the application of production control plans, mistake-proofing techniques, hard and soft process controls, and (process, product, and layered) audits.
  • Apply statistical methodology including capability studies and analysis, statistical process control, design of experiments, and measurement systems analysis, among other techniques and tools.
  • Develop new methods for improving processes and identifying areas for improvement based on data analysis.
  • Mentor junior engineers to ensure they know how to meet quality standards.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present formal reports to management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GD&T.
  • Six Sigma certification.
  • Strong Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of Quality Engineering and manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Technical knowledge of inspection, test, and statistical techniques.
  • Superb technical written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze specifications, drawings, procedures, and schematics.

  • Advanced level of proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.

Quality Engineer

What you will do?

Responsible to meet Supplier Quality Metric (PPM’s) through effective corrective actions related defective raw material from External Suppliers using SMRR’s on IRIS System. Certify Key Suppliers to reduce Inspection time and assure the quality on the source if required take the lead for onsite audit. Responsible to expedite defective raw material on Hold Location. Coordinate Supplier Quality reviews with Corporate Supplier Quality Chain on main Suppliers affecting Metric.

Commitment to Quality:

Responsible to assure Supplier Quality that meet Johnson Controls Specs/Drawings Requirements and Quality Standards are followed on part/component level. Ensure Supplier meet agency requirements.

How you will do it?

Work with Suppliers to assure effective and on time corrective action implementation to meet Company SPPM Goals.

Develop Plans and execute to certify Key Suppliers in conjunction with Purchasing.

Work in conjunction with Supplier Global Quality and Purchasing with main Suppliers affecting PPM for continuous improvement, Monthly MQR meetings.

Work with Sustaining Engr / Production / Purchasing to expedite Material on Hold location (MRB).

Provide support to Internal and External Customers to meet Delivery Performance related Supplier Quality Issues.

Work in conjunction with Quality Engineers, Mfg Engrs to improve Warranty and Process Metric related Supplier Quality Issues.

Participate on Suppliers assessment/on site audit when is needed.

Coordinate activities related sorting materials for third parties companies.

Coordinate activities related Incoming Inspection when is needed.

Coordinate non conformance parts from Production or Incoming Inspection.

Coordinate RMA and Debit memo documentation to return no conformance material to Supplier.

EHS Committee Participation.

Member of Safety observation program.

Involve EHS area prior to implementation of new and modified materials or processes.

Define, implement and disseminate health and safety policy at work and the environmental policy in your area.

Contribute to compliance (as applicable) objectives and targets for safety, health and environment.

Participate in the review of the system.

Provide resources for the implementation of the system.

Participate in Training programming system.

Provide specific training to different functions for the proper functioning of the EHS Management System.

Identify training needs in safety, health and environment.

Train your staff in procedures and instructions.

Follow-up and review procedures and instructions OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001.

Attend trainings to learn about Lean & Six Sigma tools and continuous improvement methodologies as required by function and/or position.

What are we looking for?

BS Engineering Electronic, Mechanic or Similar Engineering Technology.

Three years of progressive experience in Engineering Functions.

Strong Technical skills in electro mechanics / electronics and manufacturing.

Experience in PPAP / PAPSO Process.

  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with experience applying methodologies such as 8D, Root Cause Analysis, and Design of Experiments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Certification in quality engineering (CQE, etc.) or Six Sigma is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Visit customers as planned and complete the visit record.
