Overview

We seek a dedicated Controls Systems Engineer Professional Level.

A dedicated Controls Systems Engineer to join our team and provide controls solutions.

You will work closely with customers and other engineers to execute conveyor systems projects; design and commissioning controls on site will be required.

As a professional Controls Systems Engineer, you will have multiple responsibilities, including administrative tasks, monitoring project execution, and on-site customer support.

You will lead multiple projects on the design stages and on-site controls commissioning. We offer : PurposeResponsible for the Controls Project Execution.

To engineer and lead the control devices that allow Dematic software and hardware systems to perform to the pre-determined criteria while adhering to schedule and budget constraints.

Activities include designing, documenting, interpreting specifications, communicating, problem‑solving and on‑site commissioning.

Job Family Specific Responsibilities

Understands the importance of safety work, knows and applies safety concepts. Completes or develops the design of highly complex material handling systems that integrate hardware and software. Completes with very good quality highly complex Bills of Materials, Drawings preparation, and appropriate follow‑up. Defines and details areas on a composite layout as well as on installation drawings. Completes or develops and implements strategies related to productivity improvement, cost reduction, and improvement in customer satisfaction.

Performs highly complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design. Able to locate and apply customer standards, as applicable. Project Engineering and can lead Commissioning at customer sites. Ensures standard work packages are followed. Assist Department Manager with various technical processes, including continuous process improvements. Communicates, trains, and works with customers for final system design. Coordinate with the customer reviewing methods, tests and project acceptance. Travels up to 25% to different customer locations and Dematic locations.

Key Responsibilities (Problem Solving, Critical Thinking)

Knows and applies Dematic application guides as any other Dematic technical resource. Write PLC code and emulate it for a complex area. Code includes host communications and interfaces to peripherals such as scanners or printers. High performance of the full range of standard work for the professional field. Applies advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently. Displays a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high‑impact, complex, and / or cross‑functional problems. Identifies and resolves complex problems and applies problem‑solving skills in order to deal with most situations. Dominates the Order Entry process and knows related documentation. Dominates DTI process and knows related documentation. Dominates functionality and documentation of conveyor systems and creates DofO discussions. Identifies and resolves, clearly‑defined problems, and seeks advice when needed. Performs according to the standard workflow. Researches, understands, and applies knowledge to solve problems. Identifies and communicates deviations from the as‑sold contract.

Lead Role

The Controls Lead Engineer manages the controls engineering‑related activities of a project to ensure deliverables are on time, within scope, with quality, and on budget, adhering to established standards.

Lead Role Responsibilities

Able to lead small to medium‑size projects from Sales turnover to Customer Service turnover. Able to lead 2 small to medium‑size projects in parallel. Able to mentor junior project leads. Able to supervise other engineers projects (support 4 eyes principle). Able to support Sales and Solutions Development team. Able to make or support quotes in the control area with the integration of different technologies or control equipment. Able to design into the same project where leading. Able to lead commissioning tasks or act as the main point of contact for the commissioning lead. Understands and applies the Dematic standard workflow. Plans needed resources / engineers for engineering execution. Controls lead collaborates with PM on tasks like Change Orders, and forecasts.

Also participates in customer and vendor meetings.

Clearly understand the project schedule to plan ahead to get deliverables on time. Controls lead conducts the required tech reviews for the functionality of the system. Controls lead is responsible for technical on‑site surveys to get building and existing conveyor or machinery data. Develops an effective network that supports him / her technically to be successful in his / her projects. Identifies and captures deviations from the as‑sold contract.

  • Project lead development must include knowledge, experience (expertise in leading successful projects for 2-3 years), and training in the following subjects: Understanding of Sales turnover, what information should be covered -Sales turnover agenda-
Sales Turnover and Project Planning

Sales turnover meeting lets to know to the project leads who are the PM, sales account manager, and solution development engineer. Assimilation of standard workflow and deprom. Proposal review, Materials To Be Handled, Rate chart, acceptance criteria, scope, customer responsibilities, and assumptions. Importance of customer standards i.e. Amazon and FedEx. Importance of identification of Long Lead items as sorters, platforms, etc.

Budgets, PQR / CCQR, PVR, CO, project hours, budget tracking. Schedule-PWA and resources planning-YLF-STF labor, travel, affiliate resale. Actuals and anticipated costs. Identification and request of additional engineering resources. Creation of staffing plan. Technical start, maestro set‑up, site audit, building key, sequence planning, resale tracking. Direction of Others Provide specialized guidance or train support and professional staff.

Leadership Qualities

Leadership qualities and role model qualities demonstrated.

Collaborates with colleagues across disciplines within a project team. Key Working Relationships: Immediate manager, Engineering peers from own and other regional offices, Lead engineers (when supporting other projects) from own and other regional offices, Project manager, Specialist engineers, Principal engineers, External contacts.

Education & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering related discipline (Controls Engineering preferred). Certification may be required in some areas. Advanced English. Demonstrates and applies a broad comprehensive knowledge of the field of specialization through the successful completion of complex assignments. Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular area of specialization. Develops own functional criteria to solve problems. Applies advanced knowledge and develops own criteria (to apply) on: Organization's business practices and issues faced. Contribute to problem resolutions.

Technical requirements to start project execution: Project Planning Engineering Hours Distribution, including Backlog, PVRs, and Change Orders. Resale tracking. Electrical CAD design. Divide Control Areas of the System. Controls Network Architecture (DCA Architecture), network levels, and control drawings. Electrical Design, power distribution and Calculations. Studio.
