HSBC Mexico is seeking a motivated Analyst to join the Sustainability Analysis Unit (SAU). You will support transition risk assessments for Wholesale counterparties globally and conduct research on emissions reporting and policy disclosures across sectors.

Key tasks include analyzing carbon footprint and climate risk, evaluating transition plans, and collaborating with regional teams to ensure high-quality data for Net Zero initiatives.

Formación

  • Degree in a relevant field with strong analytical skills.
  • Experience or exposure to ESG data reporting and climate risk is preferred.
  • Proficient in English and able to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Responsabilidades

  • Risk assessment of carbon footprint for wholesale lending portfolios, identifying physical and transition risks.
  • Analyze counterparty information for climate risk and Net Zero plans, including emissions data and transition maturity.
  • Research and analyze ESG disclosures, emissions reporting, and policy disclosures across sectors.
  • Collaborate with regional sustainability teams to promote best practices and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Support audit/regulatory requirements and drive process improvements through digitization.

Credit & Capital Management (CCM) team under CIB are implementing a new, modern, and consistent E2E operating model, of which a key component is the introduction of a first line credit management office (the Business Credit Office). The BCO function will complete tasks including structuring, credit analysis and rating recommendation, client credit monitoring tasks, credit terms and docs negotiation with WCMR and clients acting as a single handoff from a RM to the BCO for all CCM tasks, creating a single control point.

The Sustainability Analysis Unit (SAU) has been established as a pivotal support system for our Wholesale Relationship Bankers [CIB], aiding in ESG activities throughout the Credit & Lending cycle. The unit serves as a crucial instrument enabling the Bank to achieve its net-zero objectives, which include assisting our clients on their transition journeys, enhancing long-term climate risk/portfolio management, and providing timely financing support for our clients.

We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join the SAU team in the capacity of Analyst. The primary responsibility of this role involves assisting in the transition risk assessment of Wholesale counterparties globally. This role also includes conducting research and investigations pertaining to the Group's emissions reporting and policy disclosures across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk assessment of the carbon footprint of the Wholesale lending portfolio, identifying physical and transitional risks.
  • Analyze counterparty information for climate-related risk assessments, including emissions reduction plans, physical risks, maturity of transition plans, and transition plan evaluations.
  • Perform thorough research and analysis on Wholesale counterparties' data and trends, focusing on greenhouse gas emissions accounting, Net Zero strategies, and Climate Change Risk Management.
  • Analysis and validation of industry/sub-sector of the Wholesale portfolio as part of the Climate Aligned Finance sectoral value chain along with assurance support for ARA reporting.
  • Collaborate with Regional Sustainability Champions to drive various activities as part of the Group's transition to Net Zero.
  • Collaborate with a global team across multiple locations to promote best practices and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Leadership & Teamwork
  • Manage work for quality and ensure compliance with audit/regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent in prioritization, planning and organizing.
  • Decision making based on experience, judgement, and process knowledge.
  • Identify & drive initiatives to improve efficiency of work processes through technical tools and digitization.
Functional Knowledge
  • BS/ BA in Economy, Administration, Financial Management, Accounting, Industrial Engineering.
  • Proficient in English
  • Degree/Certification in ESG/Climate Change/Sustainability would be an added advantage.
  • Ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of ESG and Climate Risk - Understanding ESG policies and their implementation using annual reports, CSR/Sustainability reports and other company filings
  • Preference for candidates with relevant experience working in ESG data reporting, climate change research & analysis and risk assessment.
  • Financial Statement Analysis
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills
  • Analytical Thinking, Problem Solving and can-do attitude.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially in MS Excel and Power Point
