Job summary

CIMMYT in Ciudad de México is seeking a skilled Communication Officer to develop and implement strategies that promote CIMMYT's mission and programs. You will create compelling content, manage media relations, and raise the organization’s visibility across websites, newsletters, social media and press materials.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in communications or related field, demonstrated experience in public affairs, and outstanding writing and storytelling abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
• Proven experience in communications, media relations, or public affairs.
• Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Proficiency in managing social media platforms and digital communication tools.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Experience in agriculture, research, or development is an advantage.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute communication plans and strategies to support organizational goals.
• Create, edit, and disseminate high-quality content for newsletters, websites, social media, press releases, and other platforms.
• Manage CIMMYT's social media channels and online presence to increase reach and engagement.
• Coordinate media relations, including press briefings and interviews.
• Support internal communications to ensure effective information flow within the organization.
• Collaborate with program teams to highlight key achievements and success stories.
• Monitor and evaluate communication activities and prepare reports.
