TE Connectivity Ltd. is seeking a Staff Product Engineer for its Hermosillo Automotive Plant within the Signal and Power Connectivity area. You will own customer engagement, drive NPI, and lead changes to improve manufacturability while ensuring compliance with USCAR/GMW Ford specs.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into manufacturable designs, support quotes, and drive cost-effective, innovative solutions for a growing value stream in Mexico.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • 5+ years automotive engineering experience or equivalent.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective management abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of automotive connectors, terminals, and cable assemblies requirements/testing (USCAR), materials, and processes.
  • Proficiency in CREO or SolidWorks (3D CAD).
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and stack-up analysis.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies or Red X methodology (preferred).
  • Knowledge and application of AI tools to enhance productivity.

Responsabilidades

  • Serve as the primary engineering contact for key customers.
  • Foster and grow strong customer relationships.
  • Identify and document product requirements through direct customer communication.
  • Manage the New Product Release process for new part numbers.
  • Lead the TE Engineering change process to enhance manufacturability.
  • Perform engineering analyses and risk assessments for product reliability.
  • Determine and oversee product qualification testing for automotive standards.
  • Support business office in potential new business quotes.
  • Communicate with Product Management on manufacturing challenges impacting product cost.
  • Provide engineering support to TE HMO manufacturing facility.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering on customer issues through root cause analysis.
  • Understand and apply industry specifications to product development.
  • Translate customer drawings into manufacturable detailed prints for TE facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive standards (USCAR2, GMW3191, Ford specs).
  • Support new product line launches before and after SOP.
  • Manage TE Engineering systems.
  • Generate samples and conduct technical evaluations as needed.
  • Translate customer needs into derivative business with PM office.
  • Collaborate with TE product/process experts to refine concepts.
  • Assess and apply TE products to meet customer specs.
  • Focus on increasing profit margins through innovative design.
  • Develop VAVE cost-savings ideas and implement viable projects.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Staff Product Engineer to join our Signal and Power Connectivity (S&PC) area at our Hermosillo Automotive Plant. This role is crucial in strengthening our business position with customers and developing cost-effective product solutions. The ideal candidate will be a key player in our Mexico Connectors Value Stream, driving product innovation and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Engagement and Relationship Management
    • Serve as the primary engineering contact for key customers

  • Technical Leadership
    • Manage the New Product Release process for new part numbers
    • Lead the TE Engineering change process (ECN) to enhance product manufacturability
    • Perform engineering analyses and risk assessments for product reliability
    • Determine and oversee product qualification testing for automotive industry standards
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Support business office in potential new business quotes
    • Communicate with Product Management on manufacturing challenges impacting product cost
    • Provide engineering support to TE HMO manufacturing facility
    • Collaborate with Quality Engineering on customer issues through root cause analysis
  • Industry Standards and Specifications
    • Understand and apply industry and customer specifications to product development
    • Translate customer drawings into manufacturable, detailed prints for TE facilities
    • Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards (USCAR2, GMW3191, Ford specs, etc.)
  • Product Launch and Ongoing Support
    • Support new product line launches before and after Start of Production (SOP)
    • Manage TE Engineering systems
    • Generate samples and conduct technical evaluations as needed
  • Product Extension and Innovation
    • In collaboration with PM office, translate customer needs into potential derivative business.
    • Collaborate with TE product/process experts to refine concepts
    • Assess and apply TE products to meet customer specifications
    • Focus on increasing profit margins through innovative design
    • Develop VAVE cost-savings ideas and implement or support viable projects to improve profitability
Qualifications
What your background should look like
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
  • 5+ years of automotive engineering experience or equivalent
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective management abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of automotive connectors, terminals, and cable assemblies requirements/testing (USCAR), materials, and processes
  • Proficiency in CREO, SolidWorks, or high-level 3D CAD software
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and stack-up analysis
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies or Red X methodology (preferred)
  • Knowledge and application of AI tools to enhance productivity
