Corning Incorporated in Reynosa, Mexico seeks a technically advanced leader to guide manufacturing projects focused on new product introductions and process improvements in optical communications.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD in a physical science or technical field, strong analytical ability, and 3–5 years of scientific experience, with English communication skills and initiative to work with minimal direction.

  • Strong demonstrated technical aptitude and the ability to grasp new advanced concepts using physics and first principles of engineering.

Responsabilidades

  • Provide technical leadership and support to new projects with scientific or technical challenges, ensuring process and product integrity.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within NPI projects and develop strategic plans.
  • Collaborate with Technology, Project Managers, and Manufacturing teams to drive development and understanding.
  • Analyze data, perform failure analysis, and document fundamental understanding per industrial standards.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in troubleshooting and implementing solutions for project success.
  • Report project status and concerns to key stakeholders.
  • Participate in new product development projects with a focus on Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Support safe work environment and compliance with safety standards.

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

This position will be responsible for leading technical work and process development into manufacturing to execute project for HSDC business related to new product introduction or process improvement. Working with other members of the project core team, ensure technical rigor and the use of sound engineering principles and method throughout all activities of the project and having strong knowledge of the product which main element is fiber optic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and support to new projects with scientific or technical challenges, ensuring the integrity of processes and products.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within NPI projects and develop strategic plans for implementation.
  • Collaborate with Technology, Project Managers, and Manufacturing teams to drive process development and technical understanding.
  • Analyze data, perform failure analysis, and document fundamental understanding, adhering to industrial standards related to product function.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions to ensure project success.
  • Report project status, concerns, progress, and challenges to key stakeholders.
  • Participate in new product development projects with a focus on Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of a safe work environment, prioritizing employee well-being and compliance with safety standards.
Experiences/Education - Required
  • Master's, or PhD in a Physical Science or Technical field,
  • Strong demonstrated technical aptitude and the ability to grasp new advanced concepts quickly through the application of physics and first principle of engineering. Experience in time management and planning
  • Good problems solving and analytical capabilities.
  • High initiative, able to work with a minimum of direction, and able to work in team environment
  • English language required to have successful communication
  • More determinant scientific background experience, like researcher, postdoctoral than industrial experience.
  • Scientific experience 3-5 years.
