A leading manufacturing company in Mexico is looking for a proactive and self-directed Sr. Engineer for a temporary three-month position. The ideal candidate will support the transfer of plastic injection molds, develop validation plans, and review reports. A degree in Technical or Mechanical Engineering is required, along with strong knowledge of injection molded plastic components and CAD tools. This role demands excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic.

Overview

This is a job opening for a temporary three-month Sr. Engineering position, with the possibility for time extensions. We seek a fast-response, proactive, self-directed individual to join our engineering organization. The candidate should have a positive attitude, a proven record of getting results, take initiative, and be a hands‑on collaborator with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Support the transfer of plastic injection molds from external to internal molding facilities.
  • Review dimensional reports for molded parts, defining conclusions and recommendations.
  • Develop validation plans for plastic components of those molds getting transferred.
  • Identify molded part deficiencies and define improvement plans.
  • Work with internal and external teams and individuals.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare reports, and present them to various levels within the organization.
  • The position is based in the Nogales, Mexico plants.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of injection molded plastic component, design, and knowledge of plastics processing and mold tool design.
  • Demonstrated experience in achieving results in areas of responsibility described above.
  • S. Degree in a Technical or Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • Working knowledge of tolerance stack‑up analysis and GD&T
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAE engineering tools (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, both as a leader/facilitator and a participant
  • Excellent theoretical and applied knowledge of design and mechanical engineering concepts
  • Well organized, analytic and methodic, enthusiastic, high energy, strong work ethic
  • Strong project management skills
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to make decisions using statistical tools (Minitab preferred)
  • Experience in low-cost, high-volume, low-defect manufacturing
  • Knowledge of 6‑Sigma, DFSS, LEAN, FMEA, DOE, and other quality improvement methods
  • Knowledge of FEA and CFD
  • Knowledge in CT (Computed Tomography) scanning
