Software Developer (at the rank of IT Officer/IT Technician) in the Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre (TALIC) (Ref.: )

We are looking for an enthusiastic software developer to contribute to a web application that supports students' in building confidence and improving their grades. We welcome applications from those who are looking for a meaningful way to contribute their software development skills to improving education in Hong Kong.

Responsibilities

• Develop features for a web application that automates regular classroom tests, provides adaptive tests, and gives personalized feedback to students.
• Enhance existing features on the platform for teachers and students.
• Work with a team of developers and liaise with educators to design and develop elements of the web application.
• Provide technical support and lead testing efforts.
• Develop features that use GenAI and support ongoing product improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline;
• 1 to 5 years' relevant work experience in web development;
• Experience with LLM API Integration (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar);
• Experience with Prompt Engineering (Proven ability to craft effective prompts).
• Basic proficiency in at least one of Golang or C# (or, and eager to learn the rest).
• Knowledge of NoSQL Database, preferably MongoDB;
• Source-control management (SCM) using Git;
• Basic understanding of UNIX-based systems like Linux (Ubuntu in particular);
• Experience with container-based software virtualization, Docker in particular;
• Good command of written and spoken English;
• Good communication and problem-solving skills essential for interacting with non-technical team members and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have most of the above skillset, with an eagerness to learn the remaining skills. Full-stack development (experience in both frontend and backend) would be an advantage. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Those with less experience or qualifications may be considered for appointment at the rank of IT Technician.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on a temporary full-time contract for 1 year, to commence as soon as possible. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
