Citi in Mexico is seeking a Senior Software Application Developer to design, build, and implement backend systems using Python, Apache Spark, and SQL. You will join a team actively delivering projects and help shape technical standards while mentoring junior developers.

• 5 to 8 years of experience in systems analysis and software development.
• Proficiency in Python with hands‑on experience in big data technologies such as Apache Spark and PyCharm.
• Working knowledge of SQL and database management.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot.
• Experience managing technology projects with practical knowledge of PM methods.
• Advanced English proficiency for global collaboration.

Responsabilidades

As a Senior Software Application Developer at Citi, you will design, build, and implement application systems that support core business operations within Technology. You will join a team with active projects already underway, applying Python, Apache Spark, and SQL to solve complex technical challenges and deliver scalable backend solutions. This role offers the opportunity to shape technical standards, mentor junior developers, and make a direct impact on Citi’s application landscape.

Responsibilities

• Build and implement new or enhanced backend application systems in coordination with Citi’s technology teams, from feasibility studies through time and cost estimates.
• Lead the full development lifecycle, covering analysis, design, build, testing, and implementation, while providing operational support to business users.
• Apply backend development expertise to analyze complex problems, evaluate business processes, and assess alignment with industry standards.
• Design and recommend security enhancements based on post-implementation reviews to strengthen system performance and reliability.
• Advise users, clients, and technology teams on technical challenges and recommend advanced programming solutions.
• Define technical standards and operating procedures that guide application development practices.
• Mentor junior developers and analysts, sharing backend development expertise across the team.
• Evaluate risk in technical and business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies to protect Citi and its clients.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5 to 8 years of experience in systems analysis and software application development, with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in Python, with hands‑on experience in big data technologies such as Apache Spark and PyCharm.
• Working knowledge of SQL and database management.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot and agent‑based integrations.
• Experience managing and delivering technology projects, supported by practical knowledge of project management methods.
• Ability to work under pressure and quickly adapt to shifting deadlines, new tools, and changing requirements.
• Advanced English proficiency to collaborate with global teams.
