Luxoft is seeking a Senior SDET to own the quality of features in our cutting-edge Android TV OTT app for a major North American pay-TV provider. You will design tests, automate UI verifications with Appium/Java, validate API responses, and contribute to the automation framework across real devices and emulators.

You will collaborate with developers, product owners, and international teams, executing feature, regression, and release candidate tests while focusing on non-functional quality

Qualifications

• 3+ years building Appium automation tests in Java for Android applications.
• Strong knowledge of Android platform testing and device management.
• Experience with proxy tools to inspect API responses.

Responsabilités

• Own feature quality from start to finish—review requirements, identify risks, and decide what to test manually vs. automated.
• Design, write, and maintain comprehensive test cases using Jira-based test management tools.
• Write and maintain automated UI tests for Android TV app using Java and Appium, including remote-control navigation and focus checks.
• Enhance the shared automation framework and perform peer code reviews.
• Use proxy tools to inspect/mock API responses, simulating errors and edge cases.
• Leverage feature flags for unreleased features and manage test setups on real devices.
• Investigate issues with adb, logcat, crash reports, and network traffic to write clear bug reports.
• Monitor memory usage, stability, accessibility, and analytics event validation.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and international teams to improve testing practices.

We are building a cutting-edge streaming TV (OTT) app for Android TV set-top boxes for one of the largest pay-TV providers in North America!

• The Scale: Millions of households use our platform for live TV, on-demand content, cloud DVR, personalized home screens, and sports.
• The Team: Join a collaborative, multi-country feature team working in Agile sprints with nightly builds, regular release candidates, and hotfixes. You will test on real devices and emulators using a shared Java/Appium automation framework.

We are looking for an autonomous Senior SDET who can fully own quality for the team's features and drive excellence from day one!

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Ownership: Own feature quality from start to finish—review requirements, spot risks early, and decide what to test manually vs. automate.
• Test Design: Design, write, and maintain comprehensive test cases using Jira-based test management tools.
• Automation Excellence: Write and maintain automated UI tests for our Android TV app using Java and Appium, including complex remote-control navigation and focus checks.
• Framework Contribution: Enhance our shared automation framework (screen classes, locators, test data, helpers) and perform thorough peer code reviews.
• API Inspection & Mocking: Use proxy tools to inspect/mock API responses, simulating errors and edge cases.
• Advanced Testing: Leverage feature flags for unreleased features, manage test setups on real Android devices, and execute feature, regression, and release candidate testing.
• Debugging & Triage: Investigate issues using adb, logcat, crash reports, and network traffic to write clear bug reports with likely root causes.
• Non-Functional Quality: Monitor memory usage, stability, accessibility (TalkBack), and analytics event validation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with developers, product owners, and international teams to continuously improve testing practices and tools.

Mandatory Skills & Tech Stack

• Core Technologies: Java, Appium, ADB, and Android platform knowledge.
• Experience: 3+ years building Appium automation tests in Java for Android applications.
• Device Management: Hands-on experience with real Android devices (adb, logcat, custom builds, logs, and screenshots).
• Tools & Frameworks: API proxy tools (Charles Proxy or similar), TestNG/JUnit, Maven/Gradle, Git, Jenkins, and Jira.
• Clear written bug reports and test documentation
