Job summary

Corning Inc. in Reynosa, Mexico is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality improvements across manufacturing operations.

You will analyze data, drive root-cause investigations, and implement corrective actions to strengthen process capability and ensure customer satisfaction. You will collaborate with production and cross-functional teams, conduct audits, and guide continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
• 4+ years in quality engineering or manufacturing quality.
• Strong knowledge of SPC, MSA, capability studies, DOE, and data analysis; experience with Minitab.
• Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, root-cause analysis and quality audits.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma; Green Belt is a plus.
• Strong project management, organization, and leadership; ability to handle multiple initiatives.
• Advanced English and Spanish communication; proficient in MS Office.

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will provide technical leadership to improve product and process quality across manufacturing operations. You will analyze quality data, lead root-cause investigations, and implement corrective and preventive actions that strengthen process capability and support plant performance. Working closely with production and cross-functional teams, you will help drive continuous improvement, reduce the cost of quality, and ensure compliance with quality systems and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead quality problem-solving activities using root-cause analysis, statistical methods, and advanced quality tools to improve product conformity and manufacturing processes.
• Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions, control plans, FMEA improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with production and cross-functional teams to improve process capability, reduce the cost of quality, and achieve plant quality objectives.
• Support internal and external audits, monitor key quality metrics, and communicate performance, risks, and improvement actions to plant leadership and relevant teams.

Experiences/Education - Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
• More than four years of experience in a quality engineering or manufacturing quality role.
• Strong knowledge of statistical quality tools, including SPC, MSA, capability studies, DOE, and data analysis; experience with Minitab or equivalent statistical software.
• Demonstrated experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and quality systems audits.
• Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies; Green Belt certification is a plus.
• Strong project management, organization, prioritization, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple improvement initiatives.
• Advanced English and Spanish communication skills, including strong presentation and negotiation abilities; proficiency in Microsoft Office.

A master’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field is a plus.
