Candidates should possess a law degree, be fluent in Spanish and English, and have a minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate law and compliance within a multinational environment.

The Sr Lawyer will partner with the Senior Manager in the definition and implementation of the legal strategy in MexEc Region, in order to provide efficient support to the commercial team of Mexico, Ecuador and GeM. Reinforcing the cross‑functional communication, improving the presence of the legal department as a Business Partner, and creating a preventive and innovative culture in line with the commercial strategy.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Implement, monitor and manage corporate matters locally to maintain a high level of control over Power of Attorneys and Shareholder Meetings. Define the best local strategy and align it with the Corporate Department of the Group Legal, providing the Group with the necessary documents/reports/information accordingly.
  • Guarantee the implementation and usage of the Contract Process in the Region, monitoring it and improving it over time. Facilitate the response time of requests from Procurement and Commercial teams, ensuring contracts are signed in the company’s best interest.
  • Reinforce compliance with license and governmental permits at MexEc Region offices.
  • Offer proactive and reactive guidance on a variety of business areas, including commercial, marketing, corporate, finance, and procurement.
  • Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authorities, etc.), building trust and awareness of BIC in its best interest.
  • Guarantee, monitor and contribute to compliance with the New Labor Law in Mexico.
  • Work with controlling areas to create and implement local policies in accordance with the Group Compliance strategy and local requirements.
  • Coordinate, manage and define the strategy for using outside counsel on specific projects, matters, and litigation.
  • Manage the MexEc litigation portfolio locally, collaborate with Group Legal, and build strategy to reduce costs and identify opportunities.
  • Assist the Senior Legal Manager of the region by leading demands for contracts and legal advice to business areas.
Requirements
  • Lawyer Degree and admitted to practice in a country.
  • Fluent Spanish and English.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Experience in a corporate environment: managing contacts, drafting, negotiating, and revising corporate law matters, marketing law, and litigation.
  • Desirable experience in compliance and regulatory.
  • Desirable experience in multinational companies or CPG.
  • Experience with international reports and alignments; ability to draft, implement, train and advise on compliance matters, policies, and local requirements.
