Job summary

Improving South America is seeking a Go Engineer to lead the design, development, and operation of scalable microservices powering customer-facing and internal products. You will drive backend architecture, API design, and cloud-native guidelines while shaping a resilient service-oriented stack.

As a technical anchor, you will define API contracts, supervise distributed systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate with DevOps, QA, product, and design teams to align roadmaps and architecture

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• 5–7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years building and operating production backend services in Go.
• Strong experience designing microservice architectures and APIs.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases in service-oriented architectures.
• Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and infrastructure as code.
• Advanced English is a must.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Go Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and operation of scalable, resilient microservices that power customer-facing and internal technology products. This role drives backend architecture and distributed systems strategy while also contributing to modern, responsive front-end applications.

You will serve as a technical anchor for our service-oriented architecture, leading the design of independently deployable services in Go and driving high availability, performance, and observability standards across the organization. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in microservice architecture, API design, inter-service communication, and cloud-native.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, resilient microservices using Go, setting patterns and standards for the broader engineering team
• Define and maintain clear API contracts (REST and/or event-driven interfaces) between services
• Architect distributed systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance
• Implement inter-service communication patterns (synchronous and asynchronous)
• Design and manage service-level database schemas and data ownership models
• Build and maintain responsive front-end components that consume backend services
• Implement observability practices including logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting
• Lead code reviews, mentor engineers across experience levels, and champion engineering best practices organization-wide
• Partner cross-functionally with DevOps, QA, product, and design teams; serve as a technical liaison and contribute to roadmap and architecture decisions
• Document service architecture, APIs, and operational procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
• 5-7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 3+ years of experience building and operating production backend services in Go
• Strong experience designing and implementing microservice architectures
• Experience building RESTful APIs and/or event-driven services
• Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts (service discovery, load balancing, circuit breaking, retries, idempotency)
• Experience with synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns (HTTP/gRPC, messaging systems)
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases in a service-oriented architecture
• Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including managed services, IAM, and infrastructure-as-code
• Strong debugging, performance tuning, and production support experience
• Strong problem-solving skills and architectural judgment
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and elevate team technical capability.
• ADVANCED ENGLISH IS A MUST , you won't be considered if your are not fluent thank you!

• Experience with event streaming platforms (Kafka, Pub/Sub, NATS)
