Job summary

Ohmite Manufacturing is seeking a cost accountant/finance professional to support day-to-day and period-end financial operations in our Matamoros facility. You will develop cost accounting processes, perform standard cost analyses, and analyze variances between actuals and standards to drive cost improvements.

The role requires strong Excel, ERP navigation, and Power BI skills, plus bilingual English proficiency. A manufacturing background and CPA/MBA are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; professional certification (CPA/MBA) is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of cost accounting and financial reporting in manufacturing.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist Accounting Management with day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations.
• Develop and maintain financial and cost accounting processes and controls.
• Execute monthly standard cost analysis for the Mexico facility.
• Analyze actual labor, material and overhead costs vs. standards and explain variances.
• Develop and adjust standard costs for labor, materials and overhead.
• Involve inventory, standard costing and obsolescence reserves management.
• Identify variances and work with stakeholders to improve efficiencies.
• Capture and classify cost data for product lines and new launches.
• Determine production costs, cost of sales and related metrics.
• Monitor monthly costs and production activity for improvements.
• Support financial closing and reporting; perform ad-hoc analyses.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist Accounting Management with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department.
• Develop and maintain financial and cost accounting processes and controls. Analyze existing procedures/policies and make recommendations and improvements as needed.
• Responsible for the monthly standard cost analysis for our manufacturing facility in Mexico.
• Analyze actual labor, material, and overhead cost against standard/budget and explain variances.
• Develop and adjust standardized costs for labor, materials and overhead.
• Heavy involvement with inventory, standard costing, and obsolescence reserves.
• Identify operational variances and collaborate with key stakeholders to improve efficiencies.
• Capture and classify cost data to determine costs associated with product lines, new product introductions and business segments.
• Determine production costs, cost of sales and other cost-related metrics.
• Track monthly costs and production activity to identify areas for cost and process improvement.
• Assist in the preparation of financial closing and reporting.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses to assist Management.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA and/or MBA a plus.
• 5 years of experience in cost accounting and financial reporting, manufacturing environment preferred.
• Working experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI a plus.
• Strong technical skills in both general and cost accounting.
• Bilingual in English.
