Tetra Pak Processing And Packaging Solutions For Food And Beverages in Cuautitlán Izcalli, México, busca un Senior Automation Engineer para liderar soluciones de automatización y promover la excelencia en ingeniería.

La posición implica viajar hasta 35% a nivel nacional e internacional, trabajar con PLCs, HMI/SCADA y bases de datos, y asegurar cumplimiento de estándares y seguridad. Se valorará experiencia en Rockwell y estándares de la industria.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in industrial automation in processing environments.
• Strong PLC/HMI/SCADA programming experience; Rockwell & Tetra Pak standards preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Act as technical reference for automation team and provide expert support.
• Promote best practices, standardization, and continuous improvement across projects.
• Develop and track engineering deliverables from design to commissioning and lifecycle tasks.
• Interface with account managers and customers to assess requirements and enable cost-effective solutions.
• Design, implement, and support automation including PLC, HMI/SCADA, databases, and cybersecurity.
• Lead installation, commissioning and performance testing of automation systems.
• Mentor engineers to strengthen team capabilities and conduct customer trainings.

Job Summary

The Senior Automation Engineer is a senior technical reference within the team, responsible for delivering advanced automation solutions and guiding engineering excellence across projects. This role combines deep hands‑on expertise with strong leadership, promoting best practices, continuous improvement, and high‑quality engineering standards while mentoring others.

The position is based in Cuautitlán Izcalli, Mexico.

You might be travelling up to 35% domestic and international 15% of your time.

What you will do

• Act as the technical reference for the automation engineering team, providing guidance and expert support
• Promote best practices, standardization, and continuous improvement across projects and engineering activities
• Develop and track project engineering deliverables including design, installation, and commissioning and life cycle tasks
• Interface with account managers and customers to assess requirements and support cost‑effective solutions
• Analyze, design, develop, implement and support automation solutions including PLC, HMI/SCADA, databases and cybersecurity.
• Configure control systems including PLCs, fieldbus networks, and distributed I/O
• Develop electrical schematics, control panel concepts, and system architecture
• Participate in design reviews and safety risk assessments
• Lead and support automation activities during installation, commissioning, and performance testing
• Troubleshoot complex automation, electrical, and integration issues
• Mentor and coach other engineers to strengthen team capabilities
• Conduct customer training and ensure successful system handover
• Ensure compliance with local and client standards, and internal quality processes

We believe you have

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related technical field
• 10+ years of experience with industrial automation systems in processing environments
• Strong proficiency in PLC and HMI/SCADA programming (Rockwell / Tetra Pak standard preferred)
• Experience with MES systems, databases, and virtualization technologies
• Working knowledge of ISA‑S88 and ISA‑S95 standards
• Strong electrical design and troubleshooting capability (up to 600 VAC) and pneumatic systems
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to handle complex technical challenges
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts
• Ability to act as a technical leader and influence teams through collaboration and knowledge sharing across boundaries
• Passion for continuous improvement and driving engineering excellence
• Fluency in English & Spanish. Nice to have Portuguese and/or French.
