Burns & McDonnell in Mexico City is seeking a Senior Architect to join our Global Facilities Services team. You will guide multidisciplinary project teams—engineers, designers, scientists, and builders—on large, high-performance facilities and data center projects.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of architectural experience, strong knowledge of codes, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and AI-enabled design tools.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Spanish.
  • Strong knowledge of building design codes and Mexican codes.
  • Expert proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D coordination tools and MS Office.
  • Experience leading architectural discipline teams on large projects.
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally.
  • Willingness to work with AI-enabled design and engineering tools.

Responsabilidades

  • Coordinate with Burns & McDonnell counterparts to understand scope requirements, provide discipline leadership, and ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Provide leadership in reviewing architectural deliverables prior to issuance.
  • Lead and coordinate development of architectural plans, specifications, and material selections; ensure design intent is fully captured in construction documentation.
  • Mentor and lead teams in producing accurate technical and contract documentation for construction.
  • Inform design teams on local codes, permitting requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Lead construction administration duties including bid support, site visits, addressing technical issues, and improving design quality during construction.
  • Work with governmental authorities and regulatory agencies to achieve permitting and schedule objectives.
  • Manage, mentor, and support the recruitment of architectural resources, including those producing renderings and visualization content.
  • Support project schedule, scope, budget, and change‑management activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

This position will support different business lines within our Global Facilities Services Practice: Industrial, Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, Aerospacial, Consumer products, healthcare, and Mission-critical data center projects, one of the fastest growing and most technically advanced industries globally. The role is part of our expanding Global Facilities Services (GFS) project team based in Mexico City, providing immediate involvement in largescale, highly complex projects. GFS is an international practice at Burns & McDonnell that involves exciting, collaborative work across many departments and locations.

Burns & McDonnell is actively recruiting a Senior Architect to join this segment of our growing business. This position offers unique opportunities for both personal and professional growth through a wide range of project responsibilities and leadership roles. The ideal candidate is a motivated, team‑oriented architect with a desire to guide multidisciplinary project teams—including in‑house engineers, designers, scientists, and builders—on complex, high‑performance facilities.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Strong knowledge of building design codes and applicable Mexican codes.
  • Expert proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D coordination tools, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience leading architectural discipline teams and delegating work on large projects.
  • Ability to lead technical execution and resolve issues in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for architectural and engineering documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, and team‑building skills.
  • Ability to devise new approaches to design challenges.
  • Familiarity with other building systems/disciplines and coordination workflows.
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally.
  • Willingness to work with AI‑enabled design and engineering tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant architectural experience.
  • Previous consulting experience.
  • Data center or telecom facility experience.
  • Experience mentoring junior architects and developing architectural standards.
  • Experience supporting proposals, estimates, and project planning activities.
  • Familiarity with U.S. design standards and multinational project delivery environments.
  • Willingness to pursue Professional Engineer (AIA) licensure.
