JobCubby, on behalf of a partner company, seeks an Ubuntu Security Engineer based in Mexico. You will investigate vulnerabilities across the Ubuntu ecosystem, develop secure fixes, and collaborate with internal engineers and the wider open source community.

The role combines security engineering with software development, code auditing, and tooling, in a fully distributed remote environment with opportunities to contribute to open source security projects.

Formación

• Strong understanding of common software security vulnerabilities and attack techniques.
• Experience with coordinated vulnerability disclosure and responsible security communication.
• Familiarity with open source development tools and workflows.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, Go, or JavaScript.
• Experience with Linux environments (Ubuntu/Debian preferred).
• Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.

Responsabilidades

• Analyse, investigate, fix, and test vulnerabilities in Ubuntu ecosystem packages.
• Monitor vulnerabilities from discovery to patch release using internal tools.
• Collaborate with engineers and open source contributors to validate security patches.
• Audit source code to identify security weaknesses.
• Assess risks and prioritize remediation by impact and urgency.
• Develop features, automation, and internal tools to improve security.
• Document findings and remediation activities clearly.
• Contribute to security initiatives across the open source ecosystem.
