Job summary

Outset Medical is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join the Cloud Infrastructure & Platform team. In this role, you will contribute to building, operating, and evolving the mission‑critical backend systems that power Tablo devices and Outset's application ecosystem.

You will work on brownfield systems, adding new capabilities, refining existing features, building tooling, and supporting cloud operations alongside an experienced, highly efficient team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on software engineering experience, internship counts.
• Experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Working knowledge of AWS services.
• Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to learn new tools and adapt quickly.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance features on existing backend services and cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor, triage, and resolve platform incidents.
• Build internal tooling and automation to improve efficiency.
• Work across multiple services with varying contexts and priorities.
• Collaborate on design, implementation, and code reviews.
• Participate in the on‑call rotation and contribute to runbooks.
• Apply AI‑assisted development practices to accelerate quality.
• Ability to work remotely from anywhere in Mexico, with infrequent travel to our offices in Tijuana and/or San Jose as needed.
