Nidec Aerospace is seeking a Quality Manager to apply and grow quality expertise in supporting the fabrication of electric propulsion systems for battery-powered aircraft. This role drives QMS compliance and continuous improvement across the manufacturing operations.

You will lead the Quality Department, mentor staff, coordinate audits, and partner with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain to reduce defects and ensure product quality and regulatory adherence, including AS9100/AS9120.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • +5 years in supplier quality or quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of managerial experience.

Responsabilidades

  • Ensure inspections follow procedures and maintain quality records.
  • Lead internal audits and prepare for external audits.
  • Drive CAPA, lean, Six Sigma, and other improvements.

  • Serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns and supplier quality activities.

Job Summary

As a Quality Manager with Nidec Aerospace, you will apply and develop your expertise in quality to support the manufacturing of electric propulsion systems for battery‑powered aircraft, helping the company advance the electrification of aviation.

Nidec Aerospace is a joint venture between Nidec and Embraer focused on driving net‑zero carbon emissions in aircraft technology.

Job Description

The Quality Manager oversees the daily operations of the Quality Department, ensures products, processes, and systems meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements, and drives continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the Operations Quality Department across all shifts.
  • Ensure that all incoming, in‑process, and final inspections follow established procedures and maintain quality records, reports, and documentation.
  • Handle the documentation and disposition of nonconforming materials with integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, AS9120, internal QMS procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Lead internal audits and prepare for external audits from certification bodies and regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain the calibration, testing equipment, and quality tools in accordance with standards.
  • Drive root cause analysis, corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes, and implement lean, Six Sigma, and other improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to reduce defects and improve processes.
  • Train, coach, and mentor quality personnel, conduct performance evaluations, and support career development.
  • Manage staffing levels across shifts to ensure adequate quality coverage.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns, complaints, audits, and supplier quality activities.
  • Support supplier quality activities, including incoming inspections, SCARs, and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on new product introductions, change control, and validation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • +5 years of experience in supplier quality or quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of managerial experience.
  • Effective planning, leadership, and time‑management skills; ability to resolve escalated issues across departments.
  • Proficiency in quality tools such as 8D, Six Sigma, SPC, Control Plan, and FMEA.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, mechanical system and assembly operations.
  • Understanding of GD&T to verify part tolerances using CMMs, calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; American visa and passport required.
  • Spanish and English proficiency.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: Full understanding and training evidence for AS9145 APQP‑PPAP and familiarity with QMS standards, AS9100, and AS9120.
