About the Role

We are seeking a Technical QA with specialized experience in Okta to join our team. This role is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining comprehensive test strategies focused on Okta’s identity management platform and its integration with enterprise applications. You’ll work cross-functionally with development, security, and DevOps teams to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable authentication and authorization flows.

Key Responsibilities

Design, execute, and maintain test plans for:

• Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and other auth flows.

• Application access policies and CRUD operations for user profiles.

• Validate attribute mapping, transformations, and writeback in Universal Directory.

• Test integration scenarios for both header-based and policy-based applications.

• Automate API tests using test variables such as oktaAppId, oktaOrgUrl, oktaToken, and SCIMUrl.

• Conduct access testing using policy simulation and rule-matching tools.

• Integrate test cases with QA tools like Qase or QA Touch, and configure Runscope for API testing.

• Monitor logs and enable debug mode for deep testing (with proper rollback/disabling procedures).

• Ensure thorough security, compliance, and audit logging validation.

• Work in sandbox and test environments, ensuring complete isolation from production.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of QA engineering experience with at least 1+ years focused on Okta.

• Strong understanding of Okta Universal Directory, SSO, MFA, and authentication policies.

• Experience with RESTful API testing and tools (e.g., Postman, Swagger, Runscope).

• Familiarity with Okta Expression Language and attribute transformation logic.

• Experience testing role-based access control (RBAC) and group membership scenarios.

• Working knowledge of test case management tools (e.g., Qase, QA Touch).

• Solid understanding of identity security and compliance best practices.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks.

• Familiarity with SCIM provisioning and lifecycle management.

• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC2, etc.).

Best Practices You’ll Champion

• Use static known-good values during initial header-based auth testing.

• Apply a progressive testing strategy (basic to complex policy scenarios).

• Enable detailed logging for debugging and disable once testing completes.

• Maintain clear separation between test and production environments.
