Outpost QA, a Mazatlán-based startup, seeks a QA Engineer to elevate software quality through manual and automated testing for web and mobile apps.

Design test plans, execute tests, document defects in JIRA/TestRail/Zephyr, and perform API tests with Postman/Swagger/Insomnia. Collaborate in Scrum with international teams; English required.

Strong SDLC knowledge, data validation with SQL, and mentoring junior testers are a plus.

Formación

• 3-5 years of experience in software quality assurance.
• Experience in manual testing for web and mobile applications (iOS and Android).
• Solid knowledge of the SDLC and bug life cycle.
• Advanced handling of test management tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or Zephyr.
• Ability to design and execute comprehensive test plans and test strategies.
• Requirements analysis: identify edge cases, alternate flows, and risks before testing.
• Experience in data validation with SQL (intermediate queries for database testing).
• Experience testing REST APIs with Postman, Swagger, or Insomnia.
• Critical thinking, assertive communication, autonomy, and basic mentoring skills.
• Intermediate/advanced English (B2 or higher) for communication with international teams.
• Exposure to AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code) in personal or academic projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute manual test cases for web and mobile applications.
• Identify, document, and track defects in tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or Zephyr.
• Perform functional, regression, exploratory, compatibility, and usability tests.
• Perform API testing with Postman, Swagger, or Insomnia.
• Actively participate in agile ceremonies (Scrum) and collaborate with development and product teams.
• Write detailed documentation of quality tests and procedures.
• Document and requirements analysis.
• Execute the Verify and Re-Measure pillar of Outpost’s AI Drift Remediation Service: after a client engineering team has refactored a named code path, re-run the diagnostic instruments, compare against pre-remediation measurements, and document whether the drift actually reduced.

Skills and Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in software quality assurance.
• Experience in manual testing for web and mobile applications (iOS and Android).
• Solid knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and bug life cycle.
• Advanced handling of test management tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or Zephyr.
• Ability to design and execute comprehensive test plans and test strategies.
• Requirements analysis: identify edge cases, alternate flows, and risks before testing.
• Experience in data validation with SQL (intermediate queries for database testing).

• Familiarity with performance and load testing using JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Basic knowledge of test automation with Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Experience in CI/CD and its integration with tests.
• Coaching and mentoring skills for junior testers, helping in their professional development.
