Milacron is seeking a Project Engineer in Querétaro, Mexico to drive retrofit, rebuild, and modernization projects for plastic injection molding equipment. You will coordinate with Sales, Engineering, and customers, define scope, timelines, and resources, and supervise service teams to ensure safety and objectives are met.

The role requires experience with injection molding processes, project management, and strong English skills to read OEM manuals and drawings.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Robotics/Mechatronics/Electronics/Industrial Control/Automation or related field preferred.
• Technical Associate Degree accepted.
• 2–4+ years in a similar technical project, service engineering, or aftermarket role.
• Experience managing technical personnel and coordinating field service teams.
• Experience with plastic injection molding processes and machinery.
• Experience with retrofit, rebuild, revamping, overhaul, modernization, or commissioning projects for injection molding equipment.
• Intermediate to Advanced English proficiency reading OEM manuals, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Strong customer service and technical sales support experience.
• Full-time availability.

Responsabilidades

• Lead retrofit, rebuild, overhaul, and modernization projects for injection molding equipment.
• Perform comprehensive machine assessments for wear, obsolescence, hydraulic failures, and automation deficiencies.
• Define technical project scope with Sales, Engineering, and customers.
• Develop project timelines, assign technical resources, and coordinate field service engineers and ISPs.
• Prepare technical service quotations including labor, materials, travel, and schedules.
• Oversee commissioning, FAT/SAT testing, safety verification, and customer acceptance.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, billing reports, and profitability.
• Support customers through technical consultations, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and follow-up.
• Collaborate with Aftermarket Sales to develop modernization opportunities.
• Ensure accurate project documentation: engineering changes, spare parts, drawings, lessons learned, service reports.
• Maintain digital project records and leverage IIoT connectivity and data traceability.
• Supervise daily activities of service technicians and contractors to meet safety standards and project objectives.

Milacron is looking for a Project Engineer (Rebuild, Retrofit & Modernization Services) to join our team in Querétaro, Mexico. In this position, you will be responsible for executing, coordinating, and validating retrofit, rebuild, overhaul, and modernization projects for plastic injection molding machines, ensuring improvements in performance, reliability, energy efficiency, safety, equipment lifespan, and operational availability through technical diagnostics, solution engineering, project management, commissioning, and customer support.

Work You’ll Do

• Lead and coordinate retrofit, rebuild, overhaul, and modernization projects for injection molding equipment.
• Perform comprehensive machine assessments, including mechanical wear, electrical obsolescence, hydraulic failures, and automation deficiencies.
• Define technical project scope in collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Service teams, and customers.
• Develop project timelines, assign technical resources, and coordinate field service engineers and independent service providers (ISPs).
• Prepare technical service quotations, including labor, materials, travel expenses, and project schedules.
• Oversee commissioning, FAT/SAT testing, process parameter validation, machine safety verification, and customer acceptance activities.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, billing reports, and overall project profitability.
• Support customers through technical consultations, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and post-installation follow-up.
• Collaborate with the Aftermarket Sales team to develop modernization, retrofit, and rebuild opportunities.
• Ensure accurate project documentation, including engineering changes, spare parts lists, drawings, lessons learned, and service reports.
• Maintain digital project records and leverage modern diagnostic tools, IIoT connectivity, and data traceability solutions.
• Supervise daily activities of service technicians and contractors to ensure customer expectations, safety standards, and project objectives are achieved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Control/Automation Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Technical Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Advanced Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, or related discipline accepted.
• 2-4+ years of experience in a similar technical project, service engineering, or aftermarket role.
• Experience managing technical personnel and coordinating field service teams.
• Demonstrated experience with plastic injection molding processes and machinery.
• Proven experience in retrofit, rebuild, revamping, overhaul, modernization, or commissioning projects for injection molding equipment.
• Intermediate to Advanced English proficiency with the ability to read OEM manuals, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Strong customer service and technical sales support experience.
• Full-time availability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with multi-brand injection molding machines and various automation platforms.
• Background in energy efficiency projects, functional safety initiatives, or control system modernization programs.
• Experience integrating PLCs, HMIs, drives, industrial networks, and IIoT connectivity solutions.
