Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55)-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Program Coordinator is member of the management team, providing direct oversight of Wellness Center operations and clinical supervision for all unlicensed clinicians at the Wellness Center and the Homeless program. Responsible for ensuring quality treatment and supervision is provided and documented in a manner that meets all quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Responsible for the coordination of daily operations at the Wellness Center.
  • Provides clinical consultation and supervision to program staff on a regular basis. Effectively manages training and continuing education needs of staff. Conducts and monitors orientation for newly hired department staff. Effectively evaluates, documents, and communicates performance during probationary period and annually for program supervisees.
  • Reviews active client charts on a regular basis to ensure proper documentation and maintenance of client records by program staff. Follows up to ensure that supervisees are meeting required objectives and deadlines and assists if necessary.
  • Oversees clinical decision making, with a focus on assessing and mitigating risk of dangerousness.
  • Maintains an understanding of the clients’ treatment and supervision needs and guides the treatment team incorporating these factors.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of program paperwork, documentation, record keeping, and billing procedures, ensuring quality assurance standards are met.
  • Writes, reviews, and edits reports and letters as required in a timely manner.
  • Oversees, reviews, and makes determinations on client referrals in a timely manner.
  • Maintains an average 30% service delivery benchmark through direct services or through the supervision of volunteer practicum students.
  • Monitors and evaluates programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with contract agency standards. Develops and recommends policy as necessary to maintain continued compliance.
  • Acts as a liaison to stakeholders, including DHS, LACDMH, SRTWS, other programs, private conservators, court personnel, and local law enforcement.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends in the provision of clinical mental health services.
  • Assists Program Director in program development and administrative functions, as needed.
  • Completes all mandated reporting in specified time period (i.e. CCL, DMH, DCFS, APS, etc).
  • Serves as Acting Director in the absence of the Program Director, if so assigned.
  • Prepares and presents in-service training programs, as needed.
  • Oversees interventions as emergent and emergency clinical matters arise.
  • Is the lead in all psychiatric holds and hospitalizations (5150 and voluntary).
  • Maintains objective and professional relationships with clients and staff at all times.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date clinical charts with appropriate and timely completion of all required documentation, including but not limited to, assessments, progress notes, treatment and discharge.
  • Provides clinical coverage for all facility clients as needed.
  • Assists staff in understanding administrative decisions.
  • Provides a good role model for clients in terms of reliability, social skills, professionalism, tact, leadership, teamwork, grooming and integrity.
  • Arrives at sound conclusions after investigating and analyzing all pertinent facts.
  • Works collaboratively with all staff to provide quality client care.
  • Maintains job interest, licensure, and technical skills.
  • Is flexible and responds appropriately under difficult or stressful circumstances.
  • Performs other additional tasks as directed.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATE
  • Program/Degree completion in social work or psychology from an accredited school. Licensed in the state of California.
  • Two years post-licensure with the ability to supervise practicum students and interns.
  • Training or certification in Substance Use Disorders, desired.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed in the state of California as a Psychologist, LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC.
  • Two years post-licensure with the ability to supervise practicum students and interns.
  • One year post licensure successful supervisory and administrative experience in a community mental health setting; or the ability to provide supervision and administration.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
  • Valid California Driver’s license.
  • TB clearance.
  • Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.
