Blacksmith Agency is seeking a Product Designer, Design Systems to build robust Figma design systems for our US-based clients. You will create tokens, variables, modes and component libraries that developers can build from without questions.

This is a full-time, in-house role with remote-work options for Latin America. You should own a design system built in Figma and be able to walk us through it in detail, collaborating with engineers and US teammates during overlapping hours.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as a product, UI or design systems designer.
• A design system you personally built in Figma with variables, modes and tokens.
• Experience handing a system to developers and keeping Figma and code in step.
• Strong spoken English; you will present on live calls with a US team.
• Full-time availability overlapping US business hours.

Responsabilités

• Token architecture in design systems and Figma variables, modes and naming.
• Create component libraries that scale across entire sites.
• Provide handoff and documentation enabling developers to implement the system without questions.
• Manage several client brands simultaneously with a consistent underlying structure.

About The Role

Blacksmith Agency builds websites for clients across the US. As Product Designer, Design Systems at Blacksmith, you build the Figma design systems our team ships every client site from: tokens, variables, modes and component libraries that developers build from without asking you questions.

This is a full-time, in-house seat on our team, and it has to be your only job. If you run freelance clients, a studio or agency side work, or plan to keep them, this role is not a fit.

What You Will Own

• Token architecture in Figma: variables, modes and semantic naming, from primitives to semantic to component level.
• Component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Handoff and documentation that let a developer or a build pipeline execute the system without questions.
• Several client brands at once, each distinct, with the same structure underneath.

What You Bring

• 4+ years as a product, UI or design systems designer, ideally on an in-house team.
• A design system you personally built in Figma with variables, modes and tokens, and can walk us through in detail.
• Experience handing a system to developers and keeping Figma and code in step.
• Strong spoken English. You will present and defend your system on live calls with a US team.
• Full-time availability overlapping US business hours.

Not a fit if

• You freelance or run a studio and would keep clients alongside this job.
• Your work is mainly page layouts or marketing pages, without tokens or variables.
