This role is part of Alcon's Information Technology function, a team that delivers cutting‑edge technology solutions to Alcon associates and customers to help our people and the world see brilliantly. The Principal, Information Systems Operations Management (Science/Tech/Engineering Path) is primarily responsible for providing strategic leadership for IT systems, focusing on designing and optimizing scalable, efficient, and secure technology solutions to meet long‑term business goals. Specifics include:

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of IT systems to support business objectives.
• Drive the adoption of innovative technologies and systems improvements. Collaborate with senior leadership to define the strategic direction of IT systems operations.
• Oversee multiple IT systems projects and ensure they meet deadlines and performance standards.
• Continuously assess IT system performance and recommend improvements; directly influence the organization’s IT strategy and operational efficiency.
• Ensure IT systems align with business goals and are scalable for future growth.
• Make high‑level strategic decisions regarding IT systems architecture and technology adoption.
• Design, provision, and configure secure web, application, and database servers (Windows/Linux) in both on‑premises and AWS environments.
• Plan and execute server decommissioning and software lifecycle management.
• Provide database access documentation and connection support for internal users and development teams.
• Manage AWS account structures, IAM roles, and resource provisioning in alignment with security and cost optimization policies. Analyze and remediate vulnerabilities using tools such as AWS Inspector, GuardDuty, CloudWatch, Rapid7, InsightVM, implementing patches, configuration changes, and software updates.
• Maintain comprehensive system documentation, configuration baselines, and change logs to support compliance and operational transparency.
• Manage client SW licensing and installation packaging. Mentor junior operations analysts.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure operations, or IT security.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services (EC2, IAM, S3, VPC, etc.) and multi‑account management.
• Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux administration, including patching and configuration.
• Familiarity with SOC2 or similar compliance frameworks and audit processes.
• Scripting proficiency (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and system management.
• Strong communication skills, including technical documentation and user support.
• Advanced English level (written and oral).
