ALTEN Mexico is seeking a Plastics Engineer near Toluca/CDMX who will evaluate exterior concepts and support Class-A feasibility for lightweight exterior body components. You’ll work on polymer/ composite materials, design for manufacturing, and assist with tooling and process selection.

Requirements include 3+ years in automotive exterior plastics or composites, knowledge of polymers, molding, and CAD review, plus English B2-C1. A remote work scheme is offered, with travel as needed.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Polymer, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of automotive exterior, plastics, or composites experience.
• Experience with exterior polymers, injection/compression molding, and Class-A automotive components.
• Knowledge of tooling feasibility, painting, bonding, GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance analysis, and CAD review.
• Preferred: carbon-fiber Class A, low-volume vehicles, SMC/prepreg/autoclave, NX/Teamcenter, CFD, mold-flow, thermal, or aero-acoustic experience.

Responsabilidades

• Evaluate exterior concepts based on performance, appearance, mass, cost, investment, timing, sustainability, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Provide expertise in materials and processes such as TPO, TEO, GF-PP, nylon, engineering thermoplastics, SMC, and carbon-fiber composites.
• Assess molding and forming processes including injection, compression, thermoforming, vacuum forming, prepreg molding, autoclave processing, bonding, painting, and secondary assembly.
• Lead Class-A feasibility reviews addressing surface quality, fiber print-through, gloss, warpage, draft, and parting lines.
• Review CAD, sections, drawings, GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups; support DtM and DFA reviews.
• Evaluate thermal exposure, solar loading, aerodynamic loads, wind noise, and aero-acoustic performance.
• Coordinate structural, thermal, CFD, mold-flow, and acoustic analyses; support suppliers, prototypes, tooling, validation, and risk closure.
• Develop technology comparisons and recommendations covering cost, mass, investment, maturity, performance, and timing.
