ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer / Designer with strong technical knowledge and creative problem‑solving ability to transform industrial design concepts into functional, manufacturable products.

You’ll be responsible for mechanical system development, tolerance analysis, product validation, and optimization for mass production, working closely with industrial designers and manufacturing partners.

This position is hands‑on — ideal for engineers who enjoy seeing their designs come to life on the production floor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanical Design & Engineering
  • Lead the translation of industrial design concepts into detailed mechanical assemblies and subcomponents.
  • Develop 3D CAD models (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360) and generate 2D technical drawings with tolerances and GD&T annotations.
  • Conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis), stress tests, and thermal simulations to validate structural integrity and performance.
  • Optimize designs for mass production using principles of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly).
  • Create engineering drawings, exploded views, and assembly documentation for manufacturing teams.
  • Evaluate mechanical designs for ergonomics, material performance, and cost efficiency.
Prototyping & Testing
  • Support the prototype and pilot production phases, validating fit, function, and manufacturability.
  • Conduct functional testing and failure analysis, recommending design adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with product design and quality teams to ensure products meet performance, safety, and durability standards.
  • Lead engineering change requests (ECRs) and manage product lifecycle documentation.
Manufacturing Collaboration
  • Work directly with manufacturing engineers and factory technicians globally to ensure successful design transfer.
  • Provide technical support during tooling, pilot runs, and mass production ramp‑up.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and propose design or process improvements to enhance reliability and yield.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in assembly line optimization, material utilization, and defect reduction.
Cross‑Functional Alignment
  • Partner with Industrial Designers to align aesthetics with engineering feasibility.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Sourcing, and Quality teams to balance performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Document all technical deliverables: BOMs, design revisions, change logs, compliance records, and test reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design or engineering for consumer products, furniture, appliances, or hard goods.
  • Proven success designing products for injection molding, extrusion, die casting, or CNC manufacturing.
Skills
  • Expertise in SolidWorks and AutoCAD (experience with Fusion 360 or similar tools is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials science, and thermodynamics.
  • Experience using CAM (Computer‑Aided Manufacturing) and CAE (Computer‑Aided Engineering) software for simulation and optimization.
  • Familiarity with tolerance analysis, FEA, and structural simulations.
  • Ability to perform root‑cause analysis for production or quality issues.
  • Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA principles and mass‑production optimization.
  • Excellent documentation skills — BOMs, change logs, and compliance tracking.
  • Strong proficiency in English & Spanish.
Personal Attributes
  • Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proactive and collaborative — thrives in multidisciplinary, cross‑border teams.
  • Practical mindset with passion for turning ideas into real, manufacturable solutions.

Strong communicator, comfortable interfacing with both creative and technical stakeholders.
