A leading design engineering firm in Tijuana seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer with at least 3 years of experience in new product development and mechanical/thermal design. The role involves using 3D CAD tools for product design, collaborating with various engineering teams, and monitoring tooling fabrication processes. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required, along with strong communication skills and knowledge of GD&T and FEA. Fluency in English (80%) is essential. Opportunity for continuous improvement using Six Sigma methodologies is available.

Responsibilities
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools, generation of detailed drawings for quoting and tooling fabrication purposes and some Finite Element Analysis Software experience (Physics-Nonlinear, Thermo-Structural and CFD).
  • Knowledge of mechanical design for plastic enclosures and parts, metallic and sheet-metal parts, composites, subsystems integration and assemblies.
  • Participation in product development, design, model and evaluate medium complex plastic parts, metal/sheet-metal parts and assemblies under industrial standard basis, using 3D CAD software, supporting the product design process and working coordinated with electronic engineers and industrialization engineers.
  • Monitoring and supporting development and fabrication of new components tooling (Molding Tools, Progressive Dies) and parts fabrication processes in collaboration with suppliers, as well as for Testing and Manufacturing equipment development and deployment.
  • Components drawings, assembly drawings and related documentation, mechanical and thermal testing plans and reports generation, hands‑on testing tasks.
  • Participate in programmed design reviews of projects, prototype and pilot runs by supporting Industrialization design and implementation, to develop the most adequate and achievable product architecture and construction.
  • Conduct new product platforms conceptual development and analysis, deploy and utilize design for six sigma tools to evaluate and select most suitable solutions.
  • High performer, capable of participating in technical projects execution, demonstrating accountability for successful and timely completion of assigned tasks, corresponding deliverables and product cost targets.
  • Clear and continue communication within other R&D team members, project management team and other departments to achieve established deadlines.
  • Solves problems by using novel techniques evaluating and recommending technical solutions based on standard best practices.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in new product development process.
  • 3+ years of experience in product mechanical/thermal design.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design for plastic enclosures and parts, metallic and sheet‑metal parts, composites, subsystems integration and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD software (assemblies, modeling, drafting, routing).
  • Finite Element Analysis knowledge (Nonlinear, Thermo‑Structural, CFD) is a plus.
  • High English level: 80%
  • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerating) knowledge and background.
  • U.S. Visa
  • PDP methodology background.
  • Green Belt Six Sigma knowledge/training is a plus.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Orders (ECO) processes, generation of BOM structures, and New Products introduction.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Plastic components design focused on process ability and Plastic
